Doug Davis talks about the start of his professional career in Germany.
It was 15 up and 15 down for Chris Young (3-7) last night until an infield single started a four run frame for Colorado, aided by Young's throwing error. Young threw seven innings of five hit baseball, allowing two earned runs and striking out nine.
Will Venable followed up two singles on Monday by equalling his career high with four hits plus three runs scored as San Diego bested Pittsburgh in extra innings. Highlights are streaming here.

Georgetown has announced their 2012-13 non-conference home schedule.
Two batters in to his most recent start, Chris Young had already allowed a single and a home run. Young would then find his rhythm and retire 18 of the next 20 he faced without giving up another hit, striking out seven and lowering his ERA to 3.91. The end result was a no decision as Young departed after seven innings and the Mets fell to Washington in extra frames.

As we hit the All-Star break, San Diego's Will Venable is slumping, hitting .091 in his last 10 games and down to .248 for the season. Venable has six home runs, 16 doubles and 21 RBIs as baseball pauses midway through the campaign.
Since returning from injury in June, Chris Young has started six games for the Mets. His 2-2 record disguises a 3.41 ERA. Young has pitched at least five innings in each of his starts.

Unlike his last start versus the Yankees, where one pitch ruined his night, Chris Young (2-1) did not suffer a similar slip in the seventh inning against the Dodgers. Young allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out six as the Mets defeated LA on the road 3-2.
Names like Georgetown's Hollis Thompson and Henry Sims (frozen by the top of Jay Bilas' Best Player Available list for most of the second round), Northwestern's John Shurna and Fairfield's Rakim Sanders were not called during last night's NBA Draft, but Oregon State's Jared Cunningham rose to 24th and was selected by Cleveland before being traded to Dallas.

Chris Young picked up his first major league victory in over a year as the Mets rallied for an 11-2 win at Tampa. Young teetered in the first inning but recovered nicely, allowing his team to stay in the game. It was Young's 50th career W.
