That's what he said.

Doug Davis is a hero. He scored a buzzer-beating shot to defeat Harvard and win the Ivy League. Do we need to examine Doug Davis' motivations in winning that game? Does Doug Davis strive for excellence selflessly? Or, does he do great things for the recognition, the accolades and the reverence, like a normal human being? I can't answer that, because I don't know Doug Davis. Doug Davis doesn't even sound like a real name. But I would venture to guess that Doug Davis seeks the love of others, because he has not yet learned to love himself.

But that, of course, is purely conjecture.

20 x 10 + 1?

I had been meaning to answer the following self-posited question for a while now:

"Like 2011-12, how many other Princeton seasons across the past 50 years have included 20+ overall wins, 10+ conference victories as well as a postseason triumph?"

Often two of these benchmarks are checked but getting all three has proven difficult.

A full list of trifectas follow after the jump. See if you can name them all before clicking through.

I'm well aware that the college basketball landscape has changed to where there are more overall games and more postseason opportunities but accomplishing a "20 x 10 + 1" still feels significant to me.

Monday News:

Princeton center Brendan Connolly talks about running the school's 15th Reunion.

The plan was originally for Chris Young to make two more starts for AAA Buffalo before returning to the major leagues, however Johan Santana requires extra rest following his no-hitter so Young will pitch for the Mets tomorrow night in Washington.

Racing out of the box on a ground ball, Will Venable strained his right oblique and had to leave yesterday's Padres game early.

Judson Wallace had nine points (including the game-sealing free throws) and nine rebounds as FC Barcelona advanced to the ACB finals versus Real Madrid. The best of five series begins on Wednesday.

Richmond coach Chris Mooney is speaking on Friday in the City of Pride and Purpose.

Saturday News:

The Daily Princetonian caught up with Kareem Maddox at Reunions about his season in Europe.

A brief blurb on Princeton recruit Steven Cook popped up recently.

Georgetown will host Tennessee on November 30th as part of the SEC/BIG EAST Challenge.

My condolences to Zach Woolridge and family on the passing of his father, former NBA veteran Orlando Woolridge.

Alumni Game group photo.

I was urged to stop by Jadwin Gym this afternoon for the annual Reunions Alumni Game and it was great to catch up with some familiar faces, many of a rather recent vintage. Before I split, I was requested to snap a group photo and I've shared it above.

Here's who I recognize/has been ID'd for me from left to right:

Patrick Saunders, Coach Marcus Jenkins, Frank Sowinski, Steve Mills, Edwin Buffmire, Kareem Maddox, John Comfort, Justin Conway, Luke Friedman, Bobby Foley, Coach Dan Geriot, Coach Brian Earl, Noah Savage, Jason Osier, Doug Davis, Kyle Koncz, Aaron Belz, Teddy Gobillot, Howie Levy, Bernie Stiroh, Jesse Rosenfeld, Jay Howson, Jared Katz and Coach Mitch Henderson.

Other former players present while I was around but not pictured: Dan Mavraides, Luke Owings, Jimmy Lane, Conor Neu, Matt Eastwick, Chris Marquardt, Patrick Ekeruo, former assistant Craig Moore and more.

Friday News:

Yesterday morning Chris Young pitched six shutout innings of two hit baseball for AAA Buffalo. There's postgame audio from Young attached to this link.

Will Venable has put a slow start behind him.

Why not vote for Princeton recruit Mike Washington, Jr. as HeraldNet Prep's top student-athlete of the year.

There are some good points to take away from this "how to" non-conference scheduling guide.

The next time the Tigers visit Rutgers, the RAC should have a different look. Michael Graves & Associates has been hired to do a complete renovation.

Brown finally has a new head coach. Mike Martin will be introduced by the school later today.
