Princeton released their 2012-13 basketball schedule yesterday. There weren’t a whole lot of surprises, but with the full slate now known I thought it would be fun to look at the potential pros and cons of this year’s complete fixture list. I hope you’ll add your own sentiments in the comments.

Thursday News:

Princeton es en Espana, with Los Tigres' first game coming tomorrow versus Assignia Manresa of Liga ACB, who went 15-19 last season in their country's top division.

Before the team departed, T.J. Bray and head coach Mitch Henderson spoke to the Town Topics.

Northwestern's already big (numerically and vertically) freshman class got even bigger with the late addition of 6'10" Aaron Liberman.

Georgetown players and coaches spent a day volunteering at So Others Might Eat.

Wednesday News:

Before recording an out last night Chris Young surrendered two walks, hit a batter and then gave up a grand slam. Young would settle in, allowing five earned runs on four hits in 4.1 frames of work. The Mets rallied and bested Philadelphia 9-5 in 10 innings.

Will Venable continues to streak, hitting .389 in his last 10 games.

Princeton departs for Spain tomorrow evening, where they'll be playing four games against top-tier Spanish opponents beginning Friday, while experiencing a fair bit of off-the-court culture during a 10 day oversea trip.

On the eve of their journey - the first such foray out of the country for more than one in their party - head coach Mitch Henderson opened practice to the media and answered 10 minutes of my questions afterwards.

I also had a chance to speak with returning Tigers Brendan Connolly, Clay Wilson and Ian Hummer, who each have varying degrees of experience with international travel not to mention comfort levels with speaking Spanish.

Thursday News:

To bide time during the offseason, ESPN devised an objective formula from which they're counting down the top 50 college basketball programs of the past 50 years. In a "now neither school's fans can argue which team is better" twist, Princeton and Penn tied for 22nd place.

Paralyzed former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand visited the Tigers yesterday during one of the team's first practices before their trip to Spain. In this picture you can see LeGrand, the Princeton coaching staff and what I believe are the 12 players who will be making the overseas trip.

Want some names to keep tabs on as possible Princeton recruits? These lists from ESPN and Scout show prospects with varying levels of interest in the Tigers.

Now batting second in the Padres' lineup, Will Venable is 10-16 at the plate in his last four games.



Wednesday News:

Doug Davis talks about the start of his professional career in Germany.

It was 15 up and 15 down for Chris Young (3-7) last night until an infield single started a four run frame for Colorado, aided by Young's throwing error. Young threw seven innings of five hit baseball, allowing two earned runs and striking out nine.

Will Venable followed up two singles on Monday by equalling his career high with four hits plus three runs scored as San Diego bested Pittsburgh in extra innings. Highlights are streaming here.

The 2012-13 Denver basketball schedule has been announced.



One for for the schedule: Wagner.

Wagner isn't playing a whole lot of games in 2012-13, but they will host Princeton on the evening of November 28th.

This will be the first contest at the Spiro Sports Center for new Seahawks head coach Bashir Mason.

The Tigers have split their previous two meetings with Wagner, falling 73-57 in last season's curtain-raiser and winning on Staten Island 69-57 in December of 2010.
