An incredible archive of Princeton photos.

While yesterday's tussle at The Palestra did not go as hoped, there was one great thing that came out of a Monday night trip to Philadelphia. Through sheer happenstance, my mom found herself seated next to David Zeft, who used to shoot photographs at Princeton games.

Zeft was kind enough to send me some selections from his collection today and I'm delighted to present this first batch of images to you.

Above Craig Robinson is going in for a layup above with a young Jay Wright (#14) watching under the basket. This was likely in the 1982-83 season opener.

Six more photos follow after the jump.

A superb candid of Pete Carril from inside The Palestra.

Gordon Enderle versus Ohio State at Madison Square Garden in 1981, a 59-55 loss for the Tigers.

Another shot of Enderle from the same game. The shading makes this look closer to a painting than a photograph. The three Buckeyes are Tony Campbell, Granville Waiters and Clark Kellogg.

Craig Robinson dunking at Jadwin.

Carril with his arm around Kevin "Moon" Mullin after Princeton beat Penn at The Palestra in 1984. The Tigers won 45-41 in overtime, playing only five players the entire game.

Mullen cuts down the nets following an Ivy League title for Princeton.

Greats pics - in the fourth one, the one that Jon astutely pointed out looks like a painting, pretty sure the Ohio State player standing underneath the hoop is Clark Kellogg.

Sean,

In talking to Mr. Zeft, I learned he was also responsible for a shot that was the source of much conversation between the two of us a while ago:

That is Clark Kellog. The other Buckeye in the picture is Granville Waiters. In the third picture, Gordon Enderle is being guarded by Waiters and Tony Campbell, all future NBA players.

Great catch on Tony Campbell David (could always ID Granville Waiters by his distinctive beard and bald head. Alway thought he looked like he was about 40 when h was in the NBA - and he looks 40 in college too). Now all we have to do is ID number 42 from Bucknell in the first picture, and 14 from Ohio State in the fourth. Anyone?

Funny about that picture Jon - you can now add the win total of the back of the head sitting all the way to the right to that tally.
