Richmond hosts UTEP in the first CBI semifinal of the night.
In the evening's other CBI semi, Stanford and Oregon State face off for the fourth time this year.
Regarding a possible Chris Mooney/Craig Robinson showdown:
Apart from Armond Hill's tenure as Columbia coach (and if you want to stretch the matter, Jan Van Breda Kolff's time at Cornell), has there ever been a match-up between branches of the Carril tree? Did Wayne Szoke coach against Carril when he was at Monmouth? Did Tony Relvas coach against Carril while at Colgate?
Princeton played Hofstra at the Dr. Pepper Invitation at Baylor in, I think, the 1991-92 season. Butch van Breda Kolff was coaching Hofstra at the time.
Come to think of it, I recall VBK coming to Jadwin (and Conte's) in the late 80s with either Lafayette or Hofstra. But in a sense that is another category.
With Richmond's loss yesterday, the Jedi vs. Jedi matchup will not materialize this year.
