Jimmy Sherburne to miss 2012-13 season.

In announcing Princeton's 2012-13 roster it was revealed that Jimmy Sherburne would be withdrawing from school to recover from continued issues with his shoulder and is expected to return as a senior for the 2013-14 campaign.

Sherburne averaged only 1.6 points per game in 28 contests last season but was a critical part of the guard rotation down the stretch - especially defensively - before getting injured in the regular season finale versus Penn.

It is no coincidence that without Sherburne, Princeton allowed 95 and 82 points in their two CBI contests.

The Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin native was able to play in the 2012 Milwaukee Summer Pro-Am prior to another setback in July.

This leaves T.J. Bray ( and to a lesser extent forward Denton Koon) as the only returning Tigers who played minutes of significance in the backcourt.

This is unfortunate news, to say the least. We might be facing another Mavraides-by-committee situation where a group of players (this time Clement, Wilson and Washington) is given the opportunity to replace Douglas Davis. I just hope that one of those three steps forward as ably as Bray did last season. As Jon notes, though, the Tigers will especially miss Sherburne on defense.

Best wishes to Sherburne on a full recovery.
