Monday News:

Burlington vs. MCCC - 6:00 pm ET - Region XIX Playoffs

The Daily Princetonian, the Columbia Spectator and the Cornell Daily Sun all offer pieces on the weekend's games.

There's a piece on Ian Hummer (with a great photo) in the new Princeton Alumni Weekly.

Do you know what player currently leads the nation in three point percentage?

Princeton recruit Steven Cook was named to the Central Suburban League All-Conference team. Cook's New Trier squad has won 24 games heading into the Illinois state playoffs.

Future Tiger Spencer Weisz is one of 10 New Jersey players worth the price of admission.

Was the Middlesex County/GMC final the best ever?

Kareem Maddox put up 26 points and 20 rebounds (!) in Newcastle's win over Surrey.

The case can be made for Georgetown as a #1 seed.

Scoring points was again an issue for Northwestern (13-15), who went down 74-43 at Purdue.

If you need a basketball fix tonight, Mercer hosts Burlington in the Region XIX playoffs. I'll be heading over as soon as my daughter's gymnastics class concludes.

Hard to believe I'm saying this regarding potential freshmen, who are generally anathema at Princeton, but the addition of Weisz and Bell haa the potential next year to transform the team. People in this part of the state are crazy about Weisz's knack for winning basketball games, as you see from his #1 (in New Jersey!) ranking for "most clutch."

Bell is a 2014 recruit. Have to wait a year for him (though from all I hear the wait will be worth it).

Even without Bell the Tigers will have 10 (!!) players on next year's roster who totaled one combined minute of court time in 2012-13.

They certainly seem to like Kareem across the pond. Sounds like he really went off, blocking shots, getting steals, and generally giving short-handed team a lot of energy. I don't know how good the BBL is, but I suspect he may end up somewhere higher-ranked in the next few years.
