American to name Mike Brennan head coach.

Mike Brennan has been a finalist for multiple Division I coaching jobs over the past decade, but never could snare that elusive hire. Today everything changes for the former Princeton and Georgetown assistant as Brennan will be named the head coach at American University according to multiple reports.

Brennan '94 served as an assistant under Jeff Jones at American for two seasons after leaving Princeton's staff before John Thompson III hired him at Georgetown in 2009.

A press conference is expected at 5:00 pm ET and can be streamed here.

And here you thought Carmody leaving Northwestern would reduce your workload. Guess again! And is Eddie Jordan an honorary member of the tree? Tote that YouTube clip! Lift that box score!

The only hint of good news I can see for you on the horizon is that Craig Robinson must be getting a little bit shaky at OSU. I think he has at least until the end of his brother-in-law's term to get things turned around, though--don't think OSU would want those kind of headlines.

Exceptionally happy for Mike. Glad his parents could drive down for the press conference. John Thompson III and Scott Greenman were also in attendance.

American and Georgetown have played the last two years (and roughly half of the years in the JTIII era). Will be interesting to see whether AU and Georgetown schedule each other going forward.

Saw an anecdote in passing where Brennan was asked about continuing the series versus Georgetown and he said he would like to because "Otto's gone."
