The Chris Mooney profile reinforces the point that Coach Carril was the prototype for the much-criticized negativity of some of his successors. Other articles about Richmond suggest that,Mooney himself has had to moderate his behavior in practice and on the sideline, partly to make it clearer to his players that he likes them and supports them. That anecdote about Mooney as a desperate freshman calling his high school coach, the coach sneaking into Jadwin to watch practice, and Carril's reaction is priceless.
