Wednesday News:

C. Young (1-0) 6.0 IP 1 H 0 ER 3 BB 5 K 0.00 ERA. 86 pitches, 49 strikes.

The return of Chris Young to the mound for the first time in 10 months was a rousing success. Young pitched six innings of shutout, one hit baseball as San Diego defeated Arizona 6-3. You can watch highlights of Young's night here.

Teammate Will Venable provided Young with support, hitting a solo home run to right field in the fourth inning.

Tiger recruit Ben Hazel, who I can confirm did receive official admission to Princeton, was named Honorable Mention 2010 All-Met Boys Basketball.

Northwestern backup center Kyle Rowley is transferring.

Perhaps this has been noted elsewhere, but at least three of Princeton's 2010 recruits are left-handed - Clement, Bray and Hazel - and they all play guard. Is this coincidence, intentional, bias (was SJ left-handed)? It will be interesting to see what effect this will have on future opponents who will have to guard both ways against us.

Ps. I'm a southpaw, so I think it's great.

Matt,

Outstanding point.

Hummer is also a lefty. It would be remarkable (and sort of funny) to put a lineup of five left-handed players out on the floor and sub them out situationally with five right-handed players.

But I'm getting ahead of myself...

Still on recruits but on a different topic. Does the resignation of the Cornell coach affect the in-coming class in terms of commitments?

Peter,

I have not seen any reports from Cornell commitments that they're reopening their recruiting. Time will tell.
