Box Score

Postgame audio - Coach John Thompson III, Chris Wright & Austin Freeman:

A three pointer by Rutgers' James Beatty over Austin Freeman in the left corner with 9:59 left in the second half cut what had been a 16 point Georgetown lead five minutes previous down to 47-43.

Losers of four out of their first five in conference play with their leading scorer Austin Freeman mired in a 10-31 shooting slump, the time was right for the Hoyas to crack on the road.

For John Thompson III, 7,122 red-clad Scarlet Knight supporters rising to a din wasn't different from situations he had seen before.

"We know that's life in the Big East. Teams are going to make runs on their home court," Thompson said. "The RAC is a difficult place to play. Their fans get loud in there. I think it was just a question of us at that point focusing on execution, making the extra pass and getting an open shot."

You couldn't ask for better passing and open shots than how Georgetown executed on their next four possessions.

Freeman answered Beatty on the right wing with an icy glare.

Jason Clark came up short from the arc and Freeman cleaned up in the lane, converting two free throws.

After a pair of Dane Miller free throws, Freeman used a head fake to get Mike Poole helpless in the air at the top of the arc and tossed the ball to the iron as the whistle blew, hitting all three foul shots.

Having scored 11 straight for the Hoyas, Freeman capped the counter attack by setting up Hollis Thompson on the left wing for a three point jumper that bumped the lead back to a more manageable 10.

Making eight of their last nine free throws, Georgetown secured the 74-65 victory.

A relieved Freeman got back on track with 25 points (6-12 from the floor, 4-6 from deep) plus a career high nine assists.
