Regarding the current 10-game losing streak:

I remember gloing to the Columbia gym in NY for the opening game of the EIBL season ('46'-'47), and when I didn't see Captain Butch warming up with the rest, went down to the bench and asked Cappy (just returned from army service to be our coach again) "where's Butch?" he just snarled at me and said "the S.O.B. has just flunked out!"
Without Butch we lost the next ten straight games. I learned later that Butch had enrolled at NYU and had just been signed up by the Knicks (joining Bud Palmer '44)as a pro, playing for Neil Cohalan (sp?) for a few years until he went on to become a college coach. I often reminded him of it being his fault for that losing streak!
We'll see Sunday if a new record can be set by the current squad vs. Lehigh to remove the Van Breda Kolff name from our Hall of Shame!
