Numerology alert:

Briggs changing uniform number from 12 to 2. If memory serves, this makes him the first Tiger Men's Basketball player to wear #2 since the NCAA permitted its use 10 years ago. Also, Max Huc will be wearing #1.

Interesting. Briggs was listed as #12 when the roster was first released. I've updated my roster. 1, 3, 4 & 5 have all been used (Wysocki, Wente, Gloger and Johnson immediately come to mind), so I believe you are correct that he's the first #2 in the single digit era.

In addition to Briggs, Foley, Lake and Maddox will be wearing different numbers this year than what they sported last season (2 vs. 12, 11 vs. 25, 14 vs. 11 and 23 vs. 20).

3, 4 and 5 were always allowed. For examples, Jerry Doyle wore #5 in 1988-1989; Jason Osier and Joe Scott wore #4. If you look at the YouTube video of the last seconds of the Penn-Princeton game in 1981, that appears to be Steve Mills wearing #3.

The numbers 1 and 2 were reserved because it was previously thought that scorers would confuse the refs' signals for "1 shot" and "2 shots" with uniform numbers.
