Thursday News:

The Town Topics reports on Princeton Media Day.

In preparation for their season-opening Friday game at Howard University, Oregon State practiced at Georgetown's McDonough Memorial Gymnasium. The Oregonian was on the scene.

More early signing period news - Two official commitments for Northwestern and two for Richmond.

The Washington Times previews this year's Georgetown campaign.

Finally, I am excited to announce that I am voter in philly.com's Schuylkill 16 a weekly ranking of Philadelphia-area teams. Should be fun. The first poll is out, just in time for the respective teams' first games.

No mention of Kareem Maddox in DP, Town Topics, or in the athletic department notes. He seems to be the forgotten man, yet he could be a major contributor.

Rodney,

Well, the Daily Princetonian didn't send any writers to cover Media Day, where Kareem Maddox was one of the players made available for interviews. There was a golden opportunity to speak with him right there.

I think you're right. Maddox's role and responsibility will be greatly increased this year. I am curious to see if Maddox and Patrick Saunders can play on the floor at the same time or if that is not in the staff's immediate or long-term plans.

Do we have any idea who will be starting on Friday?

Rodney,

Coach Johnson has kept the starting five as close to his vest as a wetsuit.

For example, the game notes do not list a projected lineup, as they do traditionally.

They list five "top returners."

...who do happen to be two guards, two forwards and a center.
