In its first visit to Northeast Ohio in 22 years - and its first of two in the space of a month - the Princeton men's basketball team came away with a 62- 50 win Saturday night at Kent State.

Princeton led wire to wire in the win, jumping out to a 16-2 lead and never letting Kent State within six points from then on.

The victory improves Princeton to 3-4 on the season, letting the Tigers bounce back from one that got away Wednesday night at Wagner. Princeton will have its first week without a midweek game this season before hosting Drexel at Jadwin Gym next Saturday at 2 p.m.

The loss snaps Kent State's three-game win streak and drops the Golden Flashes to 5-3 on the season.

T.J. Bray led Princeton with 15 points as one of three Tigers in double figures, along with Brendan Connolly's 11 points and Denton Koon's 10. Kent State's Chris Evans, the Flashes' leading scorer on the season, had his average with 18 points.

Princeton won by holding the Flashes to 34 percent shooting, helping to make up for Kent State taking 13 more shots than Princeton. Also helping to make that up was a 33-27 rebounding edge for the Tigers and nine 3-pointers to three for the home team.

Postgame notes

• Princeton has won four in a row against MAC schools, including the 2009-10 season opener at Central Michigan, a home-and-home series with Buffalo over the last two seasons, and now this Kent State win. The current Tiger seniors will have a chance to go to 5-0 against the MAC on Dec. 30 at Akron.

• Denton Koon was a perfect 5 for 5 from the field on the way to a season-high 10 points in 18 minutes.

• It was the first time this season that Ian Hummer did not score in double digits, finishing with five points. Princeton has won its last 10 games in which Hummer did not score double digits, which includes all such games from the 2010-11 season forward (Princeton is also 48-24 during Hummer's career when he does score in double digits).

• Brendan Connolly scored 11 points for the second time in four games (Syracuse), matching his season high.

• T.J. Bray reached double digits for the second time this season, all in the last three games after his career-high 17 points at Lafayette last Saturday.

• It was the second time in three games Princeton shot better than 50 percent from the field, after doing so last Saturday at Lafayette (.580).

• The nine 3-pointers for Princeton were a season high and the team's most since canning 10 in the season finale last spring at Pittsburgh.

• Kent State's .340 shooting clip was a season low for a Princeton opponent.

• Princeton has had a better shooting percentage than its opponents from 3-point range in each of the last four games.
