Iona has lots of local prospects attending 'Maroon Madness'

Iona College is hosting its Midnight Madness a week after most schools, but that has only added to the amount of local prospects set to take in the event, named "Maroon Madness."

Iona will host local prospects such as Wings Academy sophomore duo Mohamed Touray and Desure Buie, Cardinal Hayes juniors Shavar Newkirk and Mustafa Jones and freshman Baron Goodridge, Boys & Girls junior Armando Dunn, WHEELS forward Tyshawn Myles, Xaverian guard Raven Owen. Also in attendance will be Eric Paschall of Dobbs Ferry, Kai Mitchell of Spring Valley, Lonnie Rivera of Don Bosco Prep (N.J.), Quincy McKnight of St. Joseph's (Conn.), Amir Bell (East Brunswick) and Pearl River's Kevin Degnan, among others.

Maroon Madness will begin at 9 p.m. in New Rochelle at the Hynes Athletic Center with the unveiling of the men's basketball team's MAAC regular season championship and NCAA tournament berth banners. It will be followed by the introduction of the school's new fight song.

The team, led by returning starters Lamont (Momo) Jones, Sean Armand and Taaj Ridley, will be announced and will scrimmage. The student section will also be given a new name as well, as chosen by students.
