Sydney Johnson's first recruiting class at Fairfield University has grown to six with guard Lincoln Davis announcing via Twitter he has verbally commited to the program.
The 6-foot-2 guard from Pittsburgh Central Catholic averaged 20.2 points while leading his team to the Class AAAA final. Davis is the second player to verbally commit this past week with 6-1 guard Justin Jenkins, from Wings Academy (N.Y.) making his decision this week.
In addition to the two guards, the Stags already have received Letters of Intent from four players: 6-8 forward Amadou Sidibe from Cardinal Hayes (N.Y.), 6-10 Croatian center Josip Mikulic, from North Broward Prep in Florida, Coleman Johnson, a 6-7 forward from Paul VI Catholic in Virginia, and 6-6 forward Marcus Gilbert from Academy of the New Church in Pennsylvania.
The Stags could still have one remaining spot open, pending the status of guard Keegan Hyland. Johnson said earlier he did not plan to have seven freshmen next season, leaving open the possibility of Fairfield adding a transfer if Hyland doesn't play.
Johnson also will need to find a new director of basketball operations with Martin Bahar filling Brian Nash's spot on staff as an assistant coach, joining returnees Tyson Wheeler and associate head coach Tony Newsome. A team source told the Post last week that Bahar would be promoted and an official announcement from the school was expected over the weekend.
Elsewhere, former Fairfield forward Rakim Sanders has turned in a solid performance at the Portsmouth Invitational, according to multiple internet reports. Sanders scored 26 points with seven rebounds and four assists in Saturday's game.
