    LINCOLN, Neb. -- Dave Sobolewski scored 21 points but Nebraska was able to pull away from Northwestern in the second half as the Wildcats fell 62-46 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Saturday afternoon.

    Jared Swopshire grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds in the contest to go along with 11 points. The 16 rebounds established a new high for a Wildcat player during Bill Carmody's 13 seasons as head coach.

    It was a slow offensive start for both teams, but Sobolewski's 3-pointer with 11:30 to go in the opening half gave Northwestern a 10-5 lead.

    However, a 10-1 run by the Huskers over the next gave the hosts a 15-11 advantage. A switch to the 1-3-1 defense got the Wildcats a stop and Reggie Hearn recorded his first points of the game on a layup to end the field goal drought.

    Sobolewski knotted the game with his second trey, but back-to-back triples by Dylan Talley gave Nebraska its largest lead of the half, 23-17. A bucket by Alex Olah and Sobolewski's third 3-pointer of the stanza got the 'Cats within 24-22 at the break.

    Northwestern was within 35-31 following a triple by Alex Marcotullio with 13:10 remaining when Ray Gallegos got hot from beyond the arch. The junior hit three consecutive treys as the Huskers used an 11-3 run to push their lead to 46-34.

    The Wildcats were never able to get into an offensive rhythm down the stretch to make a run as Northwestern fell for just the second time away from Evanston this season.

    NU was limited to 32.1 percent shooting in the contest. Sobolewski made four triples, but the rest of the team shot just 2-for-21 from beyond the arch. Dylan Talley led the Huskers with 20 points, while Brandon Ubel added 14 points and 12 boards.

    Northwestern returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Central time when it travels to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan.
