UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond hosts the team it has played more than any other in 100 seasons of basketball, welcoming William & Mary to the Robins Center Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

THE LATEST

Richmond looks to improve to 5-0 at home hosting rival William & Mary. This is the 198th meeting between the two schools, making the Tribe the team Richmond has faced the most in its 100 seasons of basketball. Richmond holds a 100-97, having won the last two meetings by an average of 27.5 points. The Spiders won 92-61 last year in Williamsburg and defeated the Tribe 73-49 in William & Mary's last visit to the Robins Center two years ago.
The Spiders have played the last two games without starting point guard Cedrick Lindsay, who suffered a concussion when his head hit the court on a drive to the basket late in the Spiders' loss at Minnesota. Lindsay was cleared by a neurologist and practiced on Monday. He will play Wednesday against William & Mary.
This is the 100th season of Richmond Basketball and tonight's featured Greatest Moment is coach Mac Pitt's 1934-35 team that finished 20-0, the only undefeated team in school history. Led by three-sport star George Lacy, who would go on to play in the Major Leagues with the Boston Red Sox, the Spiders swept home-and-home matchups with Virginia, Virginia Tech and William & Mary, and won on the road at Maryland, 52-26. The 1934-35 team placed all five starters on the Virginia All-State team and over three seasons the squad won 24 consecutive games, the longest winning streak in Richmond basketball history.
Richmond is 44-8 in its last 52 home games and 31-4 in the last 35 non-conference home games dating back to the 2007-08 season.
Darien Brothers made 4-of-5 three-pointers against Ohio on Saturday and is 14 treys from cracking Richmond's all-time career top-10 list for three-pointers. He currently has 134 three-pointers for his career, including 13 this season.
Richmond is forcing 17.0 turnovers per game and scoring 22.3 points per game off turnovers. The Spiders are averaging 9.8 steals.
The Spiders return 4 of their top-5 scorers from last season, including one of the best backcourts in the league in Darien Brothers, Cedrick Lindsay and 2012 A-10 Rookie of the Year Kendall Anthony. Look for sophomore Wayne Sparrow, who was coming on strong to start conference play before missing the last 10 games with a broken hand, to also see significant time in the backcourt.
