UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond returns home to host Atlantic 10 rival Charlotte (15-2, 3-0) on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Robins Center.

The Spiders are 11-7 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic 10, coming off two-straight road losses at La Salle and at No. 13 ranked Butler.

Richmond continues play without junior forward Derrick Williams - the only Spider big man with any prior collegiate experience. The Spiders will be without Williams, who is second on the team in scoring and leads the team in rebounding, for the fifth-straight game. He is expected to be out at least three more weeks. Richmond won its first two games without Williams, but has dropped the last two.
This is the first time since Charlotte joined the Atlantic 10 in 2005-06 that the two schools have not been schedule to meet twice. The Spiders have won seven of the last nine meetings against Charlotte and have an 8-5 record in A-10 games against the 49ers. Richmond had won four-straight visits to Halton Arena before Charlotte snapped the steak last year. The Spiders won the meeting in the Robins Center.
The Spiders are playing their third-straight game against a team with a winning percentage over .750 and that stretch continues Thursday when Richmond hosts VCU in the Black & Blue Classic presented by Call Federal Credit Union. That will be the first of two meetings between the city rivals in VCU's inaugural season in the Atlantic 10.
The Spiders are 9-1 at home this season, looking to win 10 games in the Robins Center for the 20th time in 41 seasons, including six times in eight seasons under Chris Mooney. Richmond is 49-9 in its last 58 home games.
Senior Darien Brothers leads the Atlantic 10 and is third in the nation in three-point percentage at 48.5 percent. The Richmond native is fourth on Richmond's all-time career list for three-point percentage at 40.8 percent and is seventh on the career list for three-pointers with 168. He is 33rd on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,063 career points. Brothers is fifth in the A-10 in three-pointers made per game (2.6) and ninth in the league in scoring (14.9).
The Spiders are third in A-10 wins over the previous 5 years (52), behind only Xavier and Temple.
Richmond leads the A-10 and is 32nd in the nation in three-point percentage (.376). The Spiders are second in the A-10 and 36th in the country in three-pointers per game (8.1).
