DENVER - Two-time All-Sun Belt Conference player Nate Rohnert headed down to Pepsi Center on Monday for a pre-draft workout with the Denver Nuggets.

Rohnert was one of 12 prospects at the workout. Although the Nuggets currently have no picks in Thursday's draft, they ultimately could make a trade for a draft choice.

Rohnert stopped by campus yesterday to let us know how it went and to give us an update on his future.

How did the workout go?

Rohnert: It was great. It was a good experience to get down and play with a bunch of other draft prospects. To do it with the Nuggets, a team I grew up idolizing in Denver and obviously playing at Denver, made it that much more special.

Who else was there?

Rohnert: Luke Harangody (Notre Dame), Brian Zoubek (Duke), Craig Brackins (Iowa State), Derrick Caracter (UTEP), Trevor Booker (Clemson), Tweety Carter (Baylor), Jarvis Vernado (Mississippi State), Jerome Jordan (Tulsa) and a few others. We had two groups of six, and there were some really great players, who were really competitive and it was fun to go at it with those guys.

What did they have you doing?

Rohnert: They had us take personality tests on paper. We did some agility testing and then some stuff on the court. After that, we played one-on-one and three-on-three.

How did your four seasons at Denver help you?

Rohnert: I grew a lot as a player and really learned how to play the game of basketball. The coaches and my teammates at DU really helped me mature and improve my game. They helped prepare me for the next level.

What else have you been doing since the season ended?

Rohnert: Right after the season, I took about two weeks off from basketball. Ever since then, I've been in the gym everyday training and getting ready to play at the next level. Every once in a while, I'm back down here working out with the guys and checking on them. It's still fun to be around them, and I think they have a great future. I love hanging around with those guys.

Who else have you been playing with?

Rohnert: I've been playing with Matt Bouldin (Gonzaga) and with some guys who play overseas or in the pros. It's really been fun.

What does your future look like at this point?

Rohnert: I've got an agent, but I'm not really sure. I'm just working out hard, staying in shape and doing the best I can. Whatever happens happens.

Any idea where you might end up?

Rohnert: Quite a few teams overseas have shown some interest - some in Australia, France, Belgium - but right now I've just got to wait and see. There's a possibility that I might be able to play in the NBA Summer League, so we'll see where I end up.

Have you been having any fun, now that you've graduated?

Rohnert: I've been having a lot of fun. All I do is work out and maybe go to the pool, if I feel like it, or just hang out. I don't have any responsibilities for school. All these other guys have summer school, so I give them a hard time because I'm just living the dream right now.

Have you taken any vacations?

Rohnert: I went to Las Vegas for spring break, but I've been working out so much that I haven't gotten much of a chance to go on any vacations.

There's a pretty good chance that you'll be doing a lot of traveling in the very near future anyway, right?

Rohnert: Exactly. It should be fun.
