UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Chris Mooney grabbed his 150th Division I coaching win as the Richmond men's basketball team defeated Wofford 64-58 Tuesday in the Nation of Coaches Classic Tuesday at the Robins Center. 

Richmond is off to a 4-1 start for the third time in the last four seasons and it is the 30th time in 100 seasons of Spider basketball that Richmond has started 4-1 or better.

Playing without starting point guard Cedrick Lindsay, sophomore Kendall Anthony had a career-high 24 points in his second career start to lead Richmond. Junior Derrick Williams tallied his sixth career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Darien Brothers chipped in 13 points.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Spiders seized control of the game at the start of the second half, going on a 12-3 run to take a 38-27 lead with 12:36 left in the game.  Richmond's defense was smothering to start the final frame, not allowing Wofford to score for the first 6:36 of the half.

With Anthony's timely scoring and strong defense, the Spiders defeated the Terriers, 64-58, moving their record to 3-0 in Nation of Coaches Classic games this season.

Richmond scored 14 points off 11 Wofford turnovers on Tuesday night, allowing the Terriers to shoot just 35.7 percent from the floor on 20-of-56 shooting.  The Spiders out-rebounded Wofford, 38-33, and out-scored the Terriers in the paint, 26-22.

Senior Greg Robbins filled the stat sheet, totaling nine points, eight rebounds and four assists, while redshirt freshman Alonzo Nelson-Ododa added four points and grabbed five boards.

The Richmond Spiders will head to Athens to face the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in the title game of the Nation of Coaches Classic.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

NOTES: The Spiders improved to 44-8 in its last 52 home games and to 31-4 in its last 35 home non-conference contests...the Spiders are 14-1 in regular-season tournament play over the last four seasons...the Spiders are averaging 10.8 steals per game and forcing 17.8 turnovers per game through five contests.
