    GAME ON: The Fairfield men's basketball team's exhibition game against the University of Bridgeport is still scheduled to be played Friday at 7 p.m. at the Webster Bank Arena.

    Fairfield coach Sydney Johnson said he expects to have everyone ready to go besides freshman Coleman Johnson (knee), who is not expected to return until the second week of the regular season, and sophomore Vincent Van Nes (feet). Coach Johnson said the freshmen would likely be back for the Preseason NIT games.

    Fairfield opens its season in the Connecticut 6 on Nov. 10 against Central Connecticut State at the University of Hartford. Tip-off is 8 p.m.

    ALL-STAR AGAIN: Senior guard Derek Needham was the lone Stag named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's preseason team on Thursday. Needham, who missed the final eight games last season with a broken left foot, averaged 11.8 points and 3.4 assists during his junior campaign.

    "I still have a screw in there but the foot feels great," Needham said. "The foot is 100 percent healed."

    After two years running the point, Needham will again play off-guard with senior Desmond Wade back to run the show.

    "Dez and I are definitely on the same page right now," Needham said. "It's his ball. He's going to run the show for us and I'm just going to contribute how I can."
