Monday News:

Late last night the 16 bids for the new College Basketball Invitational were released, and as we reported in the wee hours of this morning, both Richmond and Brown will be participating.

The Washington Post reports from Georgetown's NCAA Selection Show viewing party.



Brown and Richmond to play in CBI.

Craig Robinson '83 and Brown have accepted a bid to play in the new CBI basketball tournament. Their opponent will be announced later this evening.

Update: Brown will play at Ohio on Tuesday 3/18 at 7:00 pm ET. This game will be broadcast on the CBI site.

Richmond travels to Virginia on Tuesday at 7:00 pm ET. This game will be televised by FCS.

Sunday News:

The Hoyas allowed 19 offensive rebounds, and Georgetown (27-5) fell to Pittsburgh in the Big East Tournament final. The New York Times has more on the game.

Tim Welsh is out at Providence and Craig Robinson is already listed as a potential candidate for the job.

Georgetown won the marathon, but Pittsburgh won the sprint.

The Panthers became the first seven seed to slug through all four days of the Big East Tournament, grabbing 19 offensive rebounds in a 74-65 win over the Big East regular season champion Hoyas.

Ronald Ramon scored a team-best 17 points in the 100th victory for Pittsburgh's senior class. Tournament Most Outstanding Player Sam Young recorded 16 points and DeJuan Blair added 10 along with 10 rebounds, seven on the offensive glass.

Georgetown center Roy Hibbert had 17 in the defeat, classmate Jonathan Wallace adding 12.

Saturday News:

Pittsburgh vs. Georgetown - 9:00 pm ET - ESPN

Congratulations to Mike Brennan, who is headed back to the NCAA Tournament as an assistant coach at American. The Eagles defeated Colgate to sew up their first-ever appearance in the big dance.

Roy Hibbert and Georgetown (27-4) beat West Virginia 72-55 in the Big East Tournament semifinals. Bob Ryan describes the game in five words - The Big Fella showed up. Luke Winn of Sports Illustrated also has some good quotes.

The 70th straight year without a NCAA appearance for Northwestern.

One minute into Georgetown's Big East semifinal matchup with West Virginia, Hoya center Roy Hibbert picked up an offensive foul giving a shoulder to his defender in the post. After going scoreless in 14 minutes of play before fouling out against Villanova on Thursday afternoon, was Hibbert in for another long game?

"For a little second I was like 'aw man,'" admitted the 7'2" Hibbert, "but the coaches tell me to go out there and play my game."

Friday News:

West Virginia vs. Georgetown - 7:00 pm ET - ESPN

The Princeton Packet has two articles of note: One on the Penn game and one on fan favorite Noah Savage.

Georgetown (26-4) advanced to the Big East semifinals for the third straight year. The Washington Post has more on the the Hoyas' hot shooting and Sally Jenkins offers up a funny piece about "luck."

Richmond (16-14) lost to St. Joe's, 61-47 on the boardwalk in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Northwestern (8-22) led by 13 at halftime and had the ball with a chance to win in the game's final seconds but it was Minnesota who advanced out of the first round of the Big Ten Tournament with a 55-52 victory.
