Penn vs. Campbell - 4:30 pm ET - UCF Holiday Classic
Yale vs. Hampton - 7:00 pm ET
Dartmouth vs. UC Davis - 10:00 pm ET

Only one preview of tonight's contest, and it comes from the Trentonian.

Georgetown (10-1) never trailed, starting Big East play in style by beating previously undefeated UConn 74-63.

Make it four straight for Oregon State (5-5), 59-50 over Portland. It was the Beavers' final game before Pac-10 play starts Friday.

Princeton recruit Will Barrett had 19 points as Central Bucks South defeated St. Paul's School For Boys in the Athletes for Athletes tournament.

Around the Ivy League: Brown (5-6) won their matinee with Quinnipiac, 89-73. Columbia (4-7) fell in OT to Sacred Heart, 84-79. Cornell (6-6) dismantled Boston University, 89-59. Penn (1-7) ended a 24 day hiatus with a 81-64 loss at Central Florida.

The only silver lining is that Penn is now 2-7 and is losing games by a much larger margin than Princeton. It's the same story. Princeton competes, stays close, but does not make the big shot when it counts. Princeton ranks 320 out of 330 DI teams in scoring offense. They do not have enough shooters and do not drive the lane enough even though they have guys that can do it. They need more easy baskets and need to get to the line. They rely too much on half court sets and settle for too many outside shots. I know this has been Princeton's game forever, but maybe they should try something different. I wish Princeton run the break more and try to get more high percentage shots. This year they have guys that can do it. They could also create more shots by pressing opponents' guards in the backcourt. With Princeton down one with 28 seconds left why not give the ball to Davis and let him drive the lane. Most likely he would get two foul shots and Princeton wins the game. This is what opponents have done to Princeton successfully all year when they needed a basket. In contrast, think of the times Princeton has needed a basket in the last few seconds or minutes of games this year. Usually (Rutgers not included) we settled for low percentage outisde shots and missed badly. Princeton should run the Princeton offense when it plays teams that are athletically superior to them - e.g. South Carolina. However, when we play Lafayette, Lehigh, Monmouth or teams in the Ivy League, teams that we may be athletically superior to, we should open things up, run the floor and take more shots. Otherwise, we have no margin for error in any game we play no matter who we play and live and die by outside shots that we rarely make.
