Monday News:
Chris Young threw 5 1/3 innings of shutout baseball for the Lake Elsinore Storm on Saturday night and declared that he's ready to return to the Padres. With 20 games left in the regular season and San Diego tied for first place, the question becomes what Young's role could be. Starter? Long reliever? Held out until 2011 to avoid another setback?

Can Harvard win without Jeremy Lin? The Dagger thinks so, predicting the Crimson to top Princeton for the Ivy crown in 2010-11.

So read the front page headline from the March 13, 1991 Town Topics. Senior center Kit Mueller is hoisted after fans stormed the floor following his final game at Jadwin Gym - a 76-48 rout over Loyola Marymount on Selection Sunday.
The regular season finale for both teams was played in front of possibly the largest crowd in the 22 year history of the building, an announced attendance of 7,735.
Mueller's stat line for his last home game? 21 points on 8-8 shooting, nine assists and six rebounds.
Princeton to host TCNJ.
On Sunday, January 23rd at 3:00 pm ET, the Tigers will host The College of New Jersey at Jadwin Gym.
This will be the first meeting between these two Mercer County schools since a 69-59 Princeton win in January 2001.
The Lions posted a 13-11 record last season, 5-8 in NJAC play.
This game completes Princeton's 2010-11 men's basketball schedule.

A hodgepodge of videos from various corners of the Princeton basketball family that don't fit anywhere else starting with archival footage of John Thompson III (#22) feeding Alan Williams (#24) for a bucket inside. Given the existence of the three point line, this is likely from the 1986-87 season, but I can't make out the opponent. Other players on the floor - Joe Scott (#4) and Bob Scrabis (#34).
Bob Scrabis, New Jersey Net?
In October 1989, five months after playing his final game in Jadwin Gym, former Princeton guard Bob Scrabis returned to the Tigers' home court as a member of the New Jersey Nets training camp - postponing a trip to England after receiving an invitation from Nets GM Willis Reed.
Asked about Scrabis and Yale's Paul Maley '88, who was also in the Nets' camp, New Jersey head coach Bill Fitch told the Trenton Times: "I think it's great that they're here. I know that Bob, playing for the guy with the cigars, what's his name? Pete something? I know I won't have to teach him any fundamentals. I know he'll have been the best coached guy out there. They have a chance. They can obviously play, otherwise they wouldn't be here."
Scrabis strained his hamstring on the second day of camp and was waived nine days later.
Wednesday News:
Chris Young will make a third rehab start on Saturday night. This time out Young will take the ball for the Lake Elsinore Storm in the first game of the Class A California League Southern Division finals.

Labor Day News:
In addition to the above video, there's a great piece on Russian national coach and Princeton alum Dave Blatt in today's New York Times. Russia meets New Zealand later today in the Eighth Finals of the 2010 FIBA World Championship, with the winner likely to face the United States on Thursday.
3 1/3 scoreless innings in his second rehab start for the Portland Beavers yesterday pleased Chris Young.
Georgetown has added a difficult home game versus Utah State to their 2010-11 schedule. The two teams will meet on December 4th.
Drew Crawford scored 21 points as Northwestern won their final game in Italy 77-55 against Pallacanestro Pavia. The Wildcats went 4-0 overseas.
Denver concluded its tour of Spain 4-2 with a four point win over Caja de Avila.
Craig Robinson will be the guest speaker at the United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley's fundraising lunch on September 16th.

My latest $0.99 eBay steal is another late-1970s Princeton program, this from the Tigers' first meeting of the 1978-79 season with eventual Final Four participant Penn. On the cover you'll find 6'11" senior center Tom "Too Tall" Young (#45).

Friday News:
John Shurna made all seven of his three point attempts as Northwestern won their second straight game against Italian competition.
Tuesday's rehab start for Chris Young went well. Young allowed two hits (one a solo home run) over three innings for AAA Portland and threw 24 of his 31 pitches for strikes.
Richmond will play Georgia Tech on December 18th in the Bahamas.
Paul Buker of The Oregonian got a first-hand look at Oregon State's 2010-11 squad during informal five-on-five action.
Denver dropped its second straight to a top-flight Spanish opponent.
Princeton has announced three additional details about this season's schedule: The game at Duke will start at 5:00 pm ET. ESPNU has picked up the Tigers' home game with Harvard and when Princeton hosts Penn, tipoff is at 7:00 pm ET.
Monday News:
Having successfully completed a second simulated game late last week, Chris Young is returning to the mound. He'll be making a rehab start for the Portland Beavers in Reno on Tuesday.
Speaking of Beavers, the 2010-11 Oregon State basketball schedule has been released. This year's DC-area game is against Howard the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Denver improved to 2-0 in Spain with an 81-79 victory over Lobe Huesca.

A near-7 footer from central PA has committed to La Salle over apparent interest from Princeton and other Ivy programs.
