The Padres traded outfielder Scott Hairston last night, freeing up more playing time for Will Venable. Earlier on Sunday, Venable was 1-2 with a run scored, plus a leaping catch to keep the game tied in extra innings.

Chris Young doesn't mince words when talking about Manny Ramirez's return from a 50 game suspension for violating baseball’s drug policy.

...is a picture by David Zeft of the Princeton coaching staff during the 1995-96 basketball season - Bill Carmody, Joe Scott, John Thompson III and Pete Carril.

It is a picture of four men that to-date have combined for 1036 wins as collegiate head coaches, the three assistants close to collectively equalling their mentor's 525 wins.

It is a picture of four men that manned the sidelines for an even 700 victories as head coaches at Princeton (against 363 losses - a winning percentage of .659), and who are together responsible for all but 19 of the Tigers' wins since 1967.

Robert Burke has landed at American University, filling the assistant coach position vacated by Mike Brennan.

Georgetown now knows who it will be playing in Big East play this coming season.

In addition to Pete Carril coaching the Sacramento NBA Summer League team, Armond Hill will be assisting the Celtics' squad in Orlando.

Pete Carril will be coaching the Sacramento Kings' Summer League team starting July 10 in Las Vegas.

Judson Wallace will not be following Carril to Vegas. Wallace had his contract with Benetton Treviso renewed with an buy-out clause if the NBA comes calling, but he will pass on the 2009 Summer League.

President Obama had a few words to share about Craig Robinson during an interview with the Oregonian.

Will Venable knocked in a run with the first pinch hit of his career, a double in the bottom of the seventh, as San Diego rallied to defeat Houston 4-3.

Richmond will play a challenging non-conference schedule in 2009-10.

Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports has posted an Ivy League off-season rundown, including the news that Harvard will be playing at Georgetown.

How's your Italian? There's a multi-page article on Princeton basketball and Coach Johnson in Sutor Magazine. They were kind enough to link to this site in the piece, and I would love it if someone could translate for me!

Chris Young is unlikely to return to the Padres until after the All-Star break.

Will Venable was scratched from the starting lineup on Friday due to a wrist injury suffered in the batting cage prior to San Diego's game at Texas.

All eight schools have been announced for the 2009 Chicago Invitational Challenge. Northwestern versus Notre Dame is one of the marquee matchups.

Denver reserve Michael Vandahl will transfer to Nebraska.

Illinois State freshman Zeke Upshaw chose the Redbirds over Princeton, among other schools.

The same video package we posted on Monday, but with clips added at the start from Princeton's 1999 NIT win over Georgetown.

Earl led the Tigers in that game with 18 points on 4-8 shooting from the field and a 7-9 evening at the free throw line.

This earns Brian his own category on the site. I'll update older posts that mention him accordingly.

Denver has announced their 2009-10 men's basketball schedule, one that includes 16 home games at Magness Arena.

Will Venable avoided being sent down to AAA when Padre outfielder Scott Hairston came off the disabled list on Tuesday. Venable started in right field for San Diego last night, going 1-4 and striking out to end the game with the tying run on first base.

A 6'3" shooting guard from Maine says "Princeton is my top Ivy League school."

Thanks, Eddie!

The final 14 Club Senior On A Stick, printed on orange and white posters for Ed Persia's last game at Jadwin Gym.

While the injured Persia did not play in Princton's 59-46 victory over Cornell, he would return for the Tigers' NCAA tournament game against Texas, scoring three points and handing out three assists in nine minutes off the bench.

Mike Brennan hired as Georgetown assistant.

This just in: Former Princeton guard Mike Brennan has been lured away from American University by John Thompson III and hired as the Hoyas' new assistant coach, replacing the departing Robert Burke.

Brennan was an assistant at Princeton for seven seasons before joining the Eagles' staff the last two campaigns.

Pete Carril has been retained by new head coach Paul Westphal and the Sacramento Kings.

The Georgetown Voice has perused their school's 990 and report the salary hike John Thompson III received after leading the Hoyas to the Final Four in 2007.

Bishop-elect John Barres, a former Princeton point guard, is profiled by the Allentown Morning Call.

One more all star game for incoming freshman Jimmy Sherburne. He'll suit up for the Division 2 South team at the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Classic in Madison on Sunday.
