Joe Scott's Denver debut was a wild ride. Denver (1-0) had a twenty point lead with under twelve minutes to play, but the Pioneers needed a free throw with two seconds left in regulation and two free throws with nine seconds to go in overtime to come away with a 76-75 victory over Division II East Central.

Richmond (1-1) was within one possession of Memphis with under seven minutes to go, before the Tigers pulled away for the 80-64 win. Memphis finished the game on an 18-4 run.

Northwestern kicks off their season with an exhibition against Chicago tonight. The Daily Northwestern has a long feature on head coach Bill Carmody, while the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times both preview the Wildcats.

In front of a crowd numbering less than 100 people, Richmond (1-0) held on against Maine 44-42 in college basketball's first game of the season.
