Monday News:

Dave Blatt and Russia took the bronze at the Olympics with a thrilling 81-77 victory over Argentina. The Russians scored the game's final five points in the last 37 seconds. Before tipoff the MetroWest Daily News spoke with Blatt.

Fairfield head coach Sydney Johnson gives a positive review to the NCAA's rule change allowing limited scrimmages and individual skill sessions during the summer.

Over the weekend Will Venable (video) smacked his seventh home run of the season, his first since the All-Star break.

Projections for Ian Hummer and other standout returning players for 2012-13 have been calculated.

Chris Young (3-6) was tagged for three home runs in a dreadful 13-0 loss by the Mets to Miami. Young allowed seven earned runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings of work.

Will Venable leads the Padres in hitting with runners in scoring position.

ESPN's College GameDay is coming to DC on March 9th as Georgetown hosts rival Syracuse in their final Big East matchup.

Tuesday News:

Harvard has released their home men's basketball slate. That information, combined with the announcement of Princeton's women's basketball schedule all-but locks in dates for 13 of the Tigers' 14 Ivy contests.

Dave Blatt, unlikely coach of the Russian national team, is profiled on Sports Illustrated's site.

Monday News:

Dave Blatt coached Russia to a 77-74 upset of Spain. Over the weekend Blatt was profiled by the Star Ledger.

The Russians finished at the top of Group B with a 4-1 record, losing at the buzzer to Australia this morning.

A 2013 power forward from northern New Jersey has narrowed his list of suitors to 13 schools, including Princeton.

As of four days ago, the Tigers were still looking to add a "guarantee game" to the 2012-13 schedule.



Brendan Connolly & Pawel Buczak team up.

Current and former Princeton big men joined forces as Pawel "The European One" Buczak (#25) and Brendan "Brendan Connolly" Connolly (#44) both suited up sporting orange for Dyckman / New York Athletic Club at New York's Nike Pro City Summer League against Smush Parker and X-Men.

Doug Davis signs in Germany.

Even professionally, Doug Davis is a Tiger. The second-leading scorer in Princeton history has signed a one year deal with Walter Tigers Tübingen of Germany's Bundesliga.

Last season Davis' new team finished 12th in the top German league with a 15-19 record.

Fellow Princeton alum Konrad Wysocki is now in the same league as Davis, having inked a deal with EWE Baskets Oldenburg this offseason.



Friday News:

C. Young (3-5) 7.0 IP 4 H 1 ER 0 BB 4 K 4.22 ERA. 97 pitches, 64 strikes.

Winless in July, Chris Young received decent run support and got back on track in San Francisco. Young retired 12 of the final 13 batters he faced as the Mets bested the Giants 9-1.

At the Olympics, the Dave Blatt-coached Russian team secured a spot in the quarterfinals with a one point victory over Brazil. A thrilling final minute of play concluded with Vitaliy Fridzon's falling down, left pocket three pointer that somehow gave his team the 75-74 decision.

Craig Robinson and Oregon State held their first of 10 summer practices yesterday in advance of the team's trip to Europe.

After missing almost all of last season with an injury, Norwua Agho won't be returning for Columbia in 2012-13.

Remember Princeton's close 2010 loss to then-undefeated Central Florida? That's just one victory the Knights have vacated as part of the school's self-imposed penalties



Thursday News:

By now you've likely heard that the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to bring in Eddie Jordan as an assistant at Kobe Bryant's behest and start running some variation of the "Princeton Offense." If you want to watch the equally unbearable Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith argue this decision for seven minutes, there's video here.

ESPN Boston has more on Pete Miller's commitment to the Tigers.

A point guard from Minnesota reportedly picked up a recent offer from Princeton.

New Recruit - Pete Miller.

John Carroll, the head coach of prep powerhouse and reigning NEPSAC champion Northfield Mount Hermon, has seen a lot of Ivy League recruits suit up for his Hoggers. The school has sent 16 different players to Ivy programs in the last five years alone.

Carroll thinks there’s a chance that Pete Miller could be the best of them all.

Yesterday morning the versatile, skilled 6'10" senior-to-be added his name to this impressive list of Northfield alums when he called Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson and informed him that he wanted to become a Tiger next season.

Pete Miller commits to Princeton.

12 alumni of prep powerhouse Northfield Mount Hermon will suit up for Ivy League teams in 2012-13, but Princeton does not currently have a NMH grad on their roster.

This will change next season as 6'10" Pete Miller has committed to join Steven Cook in Mitch Henderson's 2013 recruiting class.

Miller hails from Winchester, MA and plays his AAU ball for Middlesex Magic.

NERR, Hoop Dreams, New England Hoop News and the Boston Herald have more on Miller's decision.
