Siena 63 Princeton 59.

Postgame audio - Coach Mitch Henderson, T.J. Bray & Douglas Davis:

Box Score : HD Box Score

The deep jump shot is both higher risk and higher reward.

Unable to establish much inside in Albany, Princeton had success the first 30 minutes taking a constant barrage of three point jumpers versus the trapping Siena zone.

Then the shots stopped falling.

Six consecutive misses during a five minute stretch midway through the second half coupled with 12 straight points for the Saints reversed what was 43-37 Tiger lead into a six point advantage for the home team.

Having kept double/double machine OD Anosike in check for the majority of the evening, Anosike scored eight of his 12 in the final three minutes as Siena held off a late Princeton charge for the 63-59 win. Kyle Downey’s free throw with two seconds to go secured the result.

The Times Union previews tonight's game.

More on the most recent effort by future Tiger Mike Washington Jr.

Despite playing their best basketball of the season, Princeton dropped four spots to 10th in the new NYC Power Poll. I had the Tigers slotted sixth, behind Yale and ahead of Rutgers.

With an 92-66 win at Chicago State, Oregon State (10-2) is off to their best start in 22 seasons.

For a second time this season Georgetown plays Memphis.

Sydney Johnson got his wish and Fairfield will play at UConn.

To conclude their non-conference run, Northwestern plays at #23 Creighton.

Denver welcomes The Citadel to Magness Arena.

Around the Ivy League: Outscored 15-6 down the stretch, Dartmouth (3-9) lost by three at Army. Cornell (4-6) stayed winless on the road, falling 74-67 at Penn State.

Wish they had included Brendan Connolly's big dunk + foul. Alas.

Coach Mitch Henderson - 12/21/11.

With practice concluded and a bus waiting outside to take the team up to Albany, Tigers head coach Mitch Henderson and princetonbasketball.com editor Jon Solomon sat down in the Princeton halftime room this afternoon to record a conversation.

Henderson and Solomon first reviewed a pair of road victories at Rider and Northeastern in detail. They also previewed Princeton's next three matchups in a seven game road trip at Siena, Florida State and Florida A&M.

This exclusive Q&A is 11:00+ in length.

A longer piece on the recent scoring outburst from Princeton recruit Mike Washington, Jr.

There's a junior point guard from Philadelphia who says Tiger coaches have been to see him a few times.

Look for a Siena Know! Your! Foe! later today.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (4-5) came close against Illinois, falling 64-60. Colgate tied Dartmouth (3-8) at the end of regulation and beat the Big Green in overtime.

Ian Hummer - Ivy League Player of the Week.

For the second time in his career, Ian Hummer has been named Ivy League Player of the Week. Hummer's stat lines from Princeton's two most recent games:

Min Pts FG FT 3FG Rebs A S B TO PF
 42 21 8-19 5-10 0-1 4-8-12 7 4 0 4 3 72-61 W (OT) Rider
 38 20 9-17 2-4 0-1 2-3-5 6 5 2 6 0 71-62 W NE

Hummer is now averaging 18.0 points this year. If he continues at this clip it will be the most points per game by a Princeton player since Brian Taylor's 25.0 ppg in the 1971-72 season.

Princeton 71 Northeastern 62.

Postgame audio - Coach Mitch Henderson, T.J. Bray & Patrick Saunders:

Box Score : HD Box Score

Princeton opened their first trip to Matthews Arena listless and out of sorts. The final 20 minutes however, were anything but.

Trailing Northeastern 34-30 midway through after falling behind by as many as nine in the early-going, the Tigers opened the back frame on a 15-2 run and made their free throws down the stretch to earn their fifth win in six tries and even their overall record.

Ian Hummer had his nearly-taken-for granted-at-this-point 20 point performance but it was the complementary support of Patrick Saunders, T.J. Bray and Mack Darrow that led to this victory.
