Start your week with the senior season highlights of Princeton recruit Henry Caruso, who was named third team all-state by Cal-Hi Sports.

Will Venable lined his third home run of the season yesterday and you can see the footage here. Venable's hitting just .216 in 30 games for the Padres.

Have you ever wondered if T.J. Bray can dunk? Your question has been answered.

A New Jersey guard claims 19 offers, including one from Princeton. There's a small forward from the Philly suburbs who also apparently has been offered by the Tigers.

The NCAA has approved a measure that allows teams to start their practice schedules two weeks earlier. It looks like most seasons will start around September 27 but this new rule "would allow schools to make their own judgment about the starting time when practice begins."

Howie Levy's son Lior will play basketball for Franklin & Marshall.

Denver will face Harvard in the 2013 Great Alaska Shootout.

Monday, March 25
Richmond vs. Wright State

Georgetown was stunned by 15 seed Florida Gulf Coast 78-68, leaving the Hoyas once again searching for answers at this time of year.

I was asked in the elevator after the game if this was the biggest round of 64 upset in NCAA Tournament history. What do you think, especially compared to the other six times a second seed has gone down in their opening contest of the bracket?

Former Princeton player, former Knicks captain, jump shot innovator, broadcaster and Official Greeter for the City of New York Bud Palmer passed away at the age of 91. Palmer had a varied, interesting life. May be all be so lucky.

CBS Sports Network has added Craig Robinson to their studio coverage of the big dance.

Former Penn Quaker Stephen Danley has an interesting piece about scouting in March Madness and how that relates to Harvard and New Mexico, Florida Gulf Coast and how the Quakers used to prepare for Princeton as well.

Wednesday News:

Wednesday, March 20
Fairfield vs. Kent State
CIT - 7:00 pm ET

Richmond vs. Bryant

The first-ever postseason victory for Denver (22-9) sure was exciting. Ohio's Reggie Kelly missed a potentially-tying jump hook in the lane with seven seconds left and with the Bobcats looking to foul senior Chase Hallem chucked a long outlet to Jalen Love who immediately offered a touch pass back to Royce O'Neale for the game-clinching dunk with one tick remaining. The Pioneers advance to play at Maryland tomorrow night in the NIT's second round.

Richmond plays at Bryant in the CBI and Fairfield visits Kent State for a first round CIT contest tonight.

John Thompson III says Georgetown plans on "being around for a while" in the NCAA Tournament.

Craig Robinson is banking on a turnaround at Oregon State.

Prepare a fire extinguisher...

...BECAUSE DAN MAVRAIDES IS ON FIRE!

(I knew Mavraides had a good stat line versus Siena, but I wasn't aware just how much he contributed in the fourth quarter to rally Juvecaserta until now.)

Saturday News:

Georgetown fell to Syracuse in overtime at the Big East Tournament.

Princeton recruit Steven Cook was named Illinois Class 4A Honorable Mention All-State.

Did Kareem Maddox being named BBL Player of the Month for a second time possibly get lost in the shuffle?

If Bill Carmody is fired at Northwestern, it is unlikely he'd have to wait long for a new job. A list of theoretical replacements includes just about everyone you know.

Friday News:

Friday, March 15
(5) Syracuse vs. (1) Georgetown
Big East Tournament - 7:00 pm ET - ESPN

Georgetown (25-5) used a balanced attack to defeat Cincinnati in the Big East Tournament, meaning the Hoyas and Syracuse will play yet again tonight with a trip to the finals on the line.

John Thompson III is a finalist for the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award.

There's a very good piece on Otto Porter in Sports Illustrated.

Richmond (18-14) was leading by three over Charlotte at the Atlantic 10 Tournament with :04.7 seconds left. I'd try and describe what happened next but the video of the bizarre finish embedded below shows it all.

Both top-seeded Louisiana Tech and second seed Denver (21-9) were shocked in the WAC Tournament quarterfinals. The Pioneers never led in their 72-68 loss to Texas State.

The end also came for Reggie Hearn and Northwestern (13-19). The Wildcats fell behind 11-0 and were unable to catch Iowa.
