A footnote to last night's game that I did not include in my notes: Zach Finley's 15 rebounds were the most by a Princeton player since Mason Rocca grabbed 18 in the 1999 NIT game against Georgetown.

Significant news on and off the court for two Princeton recruits - Brendan Connolly scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Father Ryan advanced to the DII Region finals. Connolly was named MVP of the DII Middle/East Region and was also announced as one of three finalists for Tennessee Division II-AA Mr. Basketball.
Will Barrett had 20 for Central Bucks South, who advanced to the PA State Tournament with a 51-44 win over Glen Mills. Perhaps most significantly, Barrett acknowledged that he has been accepted to Princeton.

The opening possession was a harbinger of the rest of the night.
After winning the opening tip from Princeton forward Kareem Maddox, Yale's Ross Morin got the ball inside and missed at point blank range, his shot was rebounded under the basket by the smallest player on the floor, 5'9" Bulldog Chris Andrews.
An undaunted Morin missed again, but this time Yale center Garrett Fiddler took the ball away as it went up for grabs. The action stuck down at the far end of the John J. Lee Amphitheater, Alex Zampier was off the mark for three. Morin snatched his second board, but still could not score in the paint, Fiddler controlling before the ball went out of bounds off Princeton.
Morin passed out to Andrews just inside the three point line for a jumper over an oncoming Marcus Schroeder, which opened the scoring and ended a sixty second stretch with the ball continuously in Yale's hands.
Those four offensive rebounds were a quarter of the 16 the Bulldogs would grab as they overpowered Princeton inside on their way to a 60-48 victory, sending the Tigers to defeat for the first time in five Ivy contests.
"It was a physical game," said Princeton head coach Sydney Johnson. "The physicality seemed to favor them."

First there was the Northwestern (8-6) game. The Wildcats had a 13 point halftime lead against Purdue and an 11 point lead with under eight minutes remaining. That advantage was incrementally widdled away as Northwestern habitually split their trips to the foul line. The Boilermakers won 63-61 on two free throws with two seconds left. Argh.
Not to be outdone, Denver (7-10) could not hold a 21 point halftime lead at North Texas, as the Mean Green rallied for a 69-62 win. It tied the largest comeback in North Texas history.
