Monday News:

Judson Wallace saw his season end on Sunday. Gran Canaria 2014 lost 93-76 to Caja Laboral and fell out of the Liga ACB quarterfinals. Wallace had nine points and six rebounds in the game.

A right hand injury is hampering Will Venable. The former Princeton player is hitting .244 in 134 at bats for the Padres.

princetonbasketball.com readers were the first to read about Clay Wilson's acceptance to Princeton on Thursday night and now reporters in Wilson's home town of Tulsa are picking up the story we broke.

Wilson was named second team All-State in April by Tulsa World.

A sophomore big man from TCU will transfer to Northwestern.

The Wildcats are expected to play in the Charleston Classic this November.

Fairfield officially announced the additions of Tony Newsom and Martin Bahar to Sydney Johnson's coaching staff.

Thursday News:

Scott Greenman has been promoted at Georgetown. He is now the Hoyas' Director of Basketball Operations. Greenman also popped up on Twitter, so I've added him to our updated list of current and former Princeton players working with 140 characters or less.

The Town Topics talked to Noah Savage about the marathon he is running in June.

Craig Robinson continues to make the talk show rounds, including an appearance on the Mike Wise Show (audio). Robinson's Oregon State team will play at the Meadowlands in early November for the championship portion of the Legends Classic.

Later that same month Northwestern will visit Georgia Tech in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Bill Carmody announced today that Tavaras Hardy is now the Wildcats' associate head coach.

Mitch Henderson is keeping the Princeton pipeline flowing.

Future Tiger Denton Koon was honored with the Kansas City Recruiting Battalion's Top Performer Award.

Denton Koon officially "signs" with Princeton.

Sure, those headed to the Ivy League don't actually write their names on a National Letter of Intent, but that shouldn't stop each player's school from any pomp and circumstance they planned.

In a ceremony at Liberty High School on Monday, with admissions letters long since mailed out, Denton Koon made his selection of Princeton official.

Koon never wavered from his intention to play for the Tigers when Sydney Johnson left last month and a conversation with new coach Mitch Henderson the day Henderson was hired evaporated any anxiousness on Koon's part.

This is as good a time as any to run an email sent to me in late March from Liberty head coach Roger Stirtz updating everyone on his senior forward's progress since we first talked about Koon last August.

Wednesday News:

A 29th round selection in the 1994 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, Mitch Henderson will be on the field of the team that selected him this evening. The Yankees will recognize 10 collegiate coaches connected to Coaches vs. Cancer at home plate before New York and Kansas City play. Henderson is among those expected to attend the ceremony.

Stephen Goldsmith unexpectedly ran into a familiar face who now has some time on his hands at Hoagie Haven yesterday afternoon.

It is not a great shock what the Daily Princetonian has selected as their game of the year.

Craig Robinson will be part of a panel discussion on May 17th as part of a new film series at Oregon State.

A forward from southern Indiana will play for the defending Division II national champion over interest from Penn and Princeton.

Former Tiger Bill Kingston has become the the winningest high school tennis coach in history. In 38 years, his teams have an incredible 957-171 record.



Thursday News:

Here's your first bit of non-conference confirmation for the 2011-12 schedule: Princeton will play a return game at Siena. From what I hear, several of the Tigers' opponents from last season will reappear come November and December.

One web site argues it is time to send Will Venable down to the minors. Venable is hitting .191 in 94 at bats.

Georgetown sophomore Jerrelle Benimon will transfer.

The NCAA's rules committee has recommended that among their suggested changes a restricted area arc be added under the basket.

There is also a proposal that would alter the recruiting calendar once again.



Monday News:

C. Young (1-0) 7.0 IP 2 H 0 ER 3 BB 7 K 1.88 ERA. 97 pitches, 57 strikes.

Chris Young pitched seven shutout innings (video) in Philadelphia last night and left with a 1-0 lead. The Mets would eventually prevail in 14 innings. Young was in the training room when word broke that Osama bin Laden had been killed.

Prior to Young's most recent start the Wall Street Journal ran a piece on the former Princeton center's Book of Hitters.

A big day on the recruiting front for two schools: The best remaining prospect in ESPNU's Top 100 committed to Georgetown and two Indiana big men who both originally hail from Europe are heading to Northwestern.

I was unaware that former Princeton and current Georgetown basketball office assistant Mary Jane Cratty was retiring until I read summaries of Coach Thompson's tribute to her at last night's Hoya banquet. They're going to be lost without you at McDonough, but you knew that already.

Chris Young wouldn't be surprised if a specific individual became the next head coach of the Tigers.

The Princeton Packet talked to a pair of Tiger recruits about Coach Johnson's departure. Current players have been asked to not comment on the situation. The paper also attempts to work through why Johnson left.
