The nightmare is over! For the first time in 44 tries, Denver (13-14) tasted victory on the road. The Pioneers beat Arkansas State by 20.

Oregon State (13-13) shot an unreal 70.8% from the floor in the second half, defeating Cal, 65-54. Oregon Live thinks Craig Robinson has sewn up the Pac-10 Coach of the Year award.

Northwestern visits Minnesota tonight.

Princeton recruit Mack Darrow had 14 points and nine boards, but Barrington lost for the 21st time this season.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (18-8 / 8-2) demolished Brown (7-17 / 1-9), 85-45. Yale (11-13 / 6-4) came back from nine down with 14 minutes to play, picking up a 57-49 win over Columbia (11-13 / 6-4). Harvard (11-13 / 3-7) won at Penn (8-15 / 4-5) for the first time since 1991, defeating the Quakers 66-60.

John Shurna's three point shot with three seconds to go gave Northwestern (14-10) a much-needed 72-69 win over Ohio State. Shurna was on an IV before the game, recovering from the flu. Highlights are above.

Princeton recruit Brendan Connolly is on a tear, following up his 30 point night with 38 as Father Ryan stunned host Ensworth by two in the DII East/Middle championship game.

Richmond (13-13) bested La Salle by nine. The Explorers were baffled by the Spiders' smothering defense.

Georgetown (14-10) blew out South Florida, 65-40. It was the Hoyas' first road victory in Big East play since the conference opener at UConn.

Denver hosts Louisiana-Lafayette.

A footnote to last night's game that I did not include in my notes: Zach Finley's 15 rebounds were the most by a Princeton player since Mason Rocca grabbed 18 in the 1999 NIT game against Georgetown.

Significant news on and off the court for two Princeton recruits - Brendan Connolly scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Father Ryan advanced to the DII Region finals. Connolly was named MVP of the DII Middle/East Region and was also announced as one of three finalists for Tennessee Division II-AA Mr. Basketball.

Will Barrett had 20 for Central Bucks South, who advanced to the PA State Tournament with a 51-44 win over Glen Mills. Perhaps most significantly, Barrett acknowledged that he has been accepted to Princeton.

Georgetown hopes to just "relax and play" at South Florida tonight.

Ian Hummer was no slouch either, with 16 points and 15 rebounds as Gonzaga won over McNamara, 61-55.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (16-7 / 6-1) set a school record with 31 assists in a 96-75 win over Harvard (10-11 / 2-5). Columbia (9-12 / 4-3) pulled away from Dartmouth (6-15 / 4-3) in the second half of a 65-52 victory. Penn (6-13 / 2-3) defeated Brown (6-15 / 0-7), 73-52.

Yesterday I noted that Will Barrett was one of 1,500 national finalists for McDonalds All-American status. Well, three other Princeton recruits are also on the list (.pdf) - Gus Gabel, Jimmy Sherburne and Ian Hummer. Congratulations, all.

Following up on a story from Saturday, more on Barrett's Central Bucks South team winning the Suburban One Continental Conference.

While we're talking about recruiting, here's mention of a stocky 6'2" Brazilian who says Princeton is "at the top of his list."

Richmond (11-12) lost in triple overtime to St. Louis. Lack of offensive and defensive execution at the end of each period hurt the Spiders.

Pete Carril and Gary Walters will both be inducted into the Berks Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday night.

Georgetown (13-9) fell to Cincinnati in overtime. The Hoyas had one field goal in the final 12 minutes of play.

Northwestern (13-8) was up one with a minute to go at Iowa, but Devan Bawinkel hit a three pointer to give the Hawkeyes their final lead. To make the Wildcats' loss slightly more painful, Jeff Peterson scored 16 to pace the home team.

Oregon State (10-11) lost a low-scoring game to perhaps their toughest conference matchup, #23 Arizona State.

Beavers head coach Craig Robinson is a presenter at tonight's 57th annual Oregon Sports Awards.

Mercer (12-11) lost 74-64 at Harcum.

Denver (10-13) dropped a nine point decision at UALR, 66-57.

Richmond goes for the season sweep against St. Louis this afternoon.

Around the Ivy League: Jeremy Lin made a free throw with no time left, as Harvard (10-10 / 2-4) rallied to defeat Brown (6-14 / 0-6) by one. Cornell (15-7 / 5-1) got back on track with an 88-73 win over Penn (5-13 / 1-3). Don't look now, but Dartmouth (6-14 / 4-2) has won three straight. The Big Green bested Yale (8-13 / 2-3) in Hanover, 57-54.
