Mercer (4-15) fell to Manor at home, 59-57. Flip Seculic had 16 for the Vikings.
Bill Carmody is no fan of the RPI, especially how it treated a couple of his Princeton teams.
Georgetown's John Thompson III flew to Georgia to watch a high school game the same day his Hoyas beat Rutgers.
Sticking with news of former Tiger head coaches, Pete Carril went to a game at St. Joseph's Prep over the weekend.
Let's move on to results from The Old World. In the first week of the Euroleague's Top 16, Mason Rocca scored eight points for EA7 Emporio Armani in a loss to the Greek squad Panathinaikos.
The second round of Eurobasket saw Aris drop an 81-74 decision to BC Donetsk. Dan Mavraides added seven points off the bench for the Yellows.
Landstede Basketbal lost a high-scoring game despite 17 from Kareem Maddox.
The new polls are out. Georgetown is 9th in the AP and 10th in the ESPN/USA Today rankings. Harvard is 23rd in the latter but does not appear in the former.
Additionally, Florida State holds the 23rd spot in the Associated Press table, which led me to do some research. I believe this means that the Tigers have defeated a team that was ranked at some point during the season after they met for the first time since besting Xavier at Jadwin in December of 2000. The Musketeers would crack the Top 25 two months later.
Correct me if I am wrong.
It has been a busy week for Princeton recruit Steven Cook. After much phone tag I finally talked to New Trier head coach Scott Fricke this morning so expect a full profile on Cook later today.
Around the Ivy League: Greg Mangano scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Yale (12-4 / 2-0) completed a season sweep of Brown (5-13 / 0-2) in Providence, 73-60. Harvard (16-2 / 2-0) also stayed perfect in conference by besting Dartmouth (4-14 / 0-2) on the road in front of a sold out crowd, 54-38. Columbia (12-7 / 1-2) got 18 points and a gym record 20 rebounds from Mark Cisco in their first Ivy victory of the campaign, winning 61-56 over Cornell (6-11 / 1-2). Penn (10-9 / 2-0) nearly let a 24 point second half lead get away from them, but at the horn the Quakers held a quality 84-80 win over St. Joe's.

Princeton recruit Steven Cook had 14 points in New Trier's win over Niles West. I've been playing extended phone tag with Cook's high school coach, but a full profile should follow soon.
Yesterday's Mercer game at the Columbia JV was postponed.
Mercer (4-14) fell 61-47 against Essex. Before their game at the Verizon Center in December, the Vikings toured the Capitol and met with Congressman Rush Holt.
Big Apple Buckets writes more on Columbia's struggles versus the Tigers.
After Florida State beat North Carolina by 33, Tarheels head coach Roy Williams had a funny quip that referenced Princeton.
Kareem Maddox scored 10 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists in Landstede Basketbal's win over Rotterdam. Look for a major update on Princeton players in Europe on the site later this week.
The Princeton coaches see potential in new recruit Steven Cook.

Postgame audio - Coach John Thompson III, Hollis Thompson, Otto Porter & Jason Clark:
There was both a beautiful symmetry and a huge inequality in Georgetown's 69-49 win over St. John's on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
In the first half as well as the second half, the Hoyas used extended runs to change the game. Lethargic and over-reliant on the three point shot, Georgetown trailed 13-5 eight minutes in. Behind five points from big man Henry Sims, the Hoyas erased that deficit and proceeded to nab the next eight straight between freshmen Otto Porter and Mikael Hopkins crashing the boards. When Jason Clark faked a three and stepped in to a long two, that concluded an 18-2 stretch which ended with Georgetown in front by eight.
"Once we picked up our energy level, the offense got better and the defense got better," said head coach John Thompson III.
Highlights of Friday's game in Ithaca can be found here.
Princeton recruit Hans Brase scored 14 in The Hill School's win at Hun.
In Evanston Northwestern (12-5) got the signature win they were looking for, knocking off #6 Michigan State, 81-74.
Richmond (11-7) rolled to a 19 point halftime lead and beat Temple for the third straight time at home, 76-65.
Arizona State handed Oregon State (11-7) a disappointing setback in Tempe by 10.
Georgetown visits St. John's. Hopefully I'm on a train to MSG when this post goes live.
Both Joe Scott and his staff will be wearing sneakers on the sidelines when Denver hosts Western Kentucky today.
Around the Ivy League: Yale (11-4 / 1-0) finished on a 13-3 run in the final 3:10 to pass Brown (5-12 / 0-1) in the final minute. Penn (9-9 / 2-0) swept their first conference road trip with a 64-52 decision over Cornell (6-10 / 1-1), 64-52. Dartmouth (4-13 / 0-1) ended a six game losing streak by beating Longwood, 83-67. Harvard (14-2 / 1-0) concluded non-conference play with their 23rd straight home win, a 21 point victory over George Washington.

Cincinnati caught Georgetown (13-3) late and defeated the Hoyas 68-64. John Thompson III's team was done in by 17 turnovers. For postgame audio check Hoya Hoops and Hoya Prospectus crunches the numbers.
Brendan Connolly represents Princeton on the latest Ivy League Men's Basketball weekly release.
With the football team possessing the longest bowl losing streak (it pains me to type those words), Northwestern looks to end another streak by making the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
I had not seen this photo from the Princeton/Florida State game before.
Congratulations to John Sadak on being named 2011 Delaware Sportscaster of the Year .
princetonbasketball.com was founded on April 28th, 1998 in an attempt to provide fans of the Princeton Tigers and Ivy League basketball with the best on-line source for up-to-date news and information. We have since expanded to launch a companion site, Georgetown Basketball News.
As these sites have continued to grow we have increased our coverage to include additional teams with Princeton connections - the Richmond Spiders, Denver Pioneers, Oregon State Beavers, Fairfield Stags and Mercer County Community College Vikings - plus former Tigers playing professional baseball and basketball all over the world. This site is not directly affiliated with the Friends of Princeton Basketball, Princeton University or the Princeton athletic department.
