Monday News:
Continuing to thrive after his demotion, Padres outfielder Will Venable led off yesterday's game with a home run (video) and ended the action with a walk off ninth inning single (video) as San Diego swept Florida, 4-3.
John Thompson III says last week's brawl is behind his team. After a day in Shanghai, the Hoyas easily defeated Liaoning, 91-69.
In Italy it was Fairfield with the 101-70 win over Forli. The Stags' Rakim Sanders had 35 points on 14-15 shooting, nearly equalled on the other side by former Georgetown standout Austin Freeman's 34.
Friday News:
There was a frightening melee in the fourth quarter of yesterday's exhibition between Georgetown and the Bayi Rockets. The Washington Post had a reporter on the scene describing what transpired.
John Thompson III released a statement after the game and today two Hoyas met in Shanghai with members of the team they came to blows with.

Will Venable is the San Diego YPC's Young Professional of the Month.
As most were getting up on the east coast, Georgetown was playing their first exhibition in China, a 98-81 Hoyas victory over the Shanxi Brave Dragons. Vice President Joe Biden attended the game and spoke to the team in the locker room beforehand.
Not much to take away from Mitch Henderson's appearance on ESPNU, but my ears perked up a touch when he said some of the incoming Princeton freshmen will be "special for us."
John Thompson III and Sydney Johnson are both scheduled to be on with Andy Katz today at 5:00 pm ET.
I like what Fairfield is doing with the release of their 2011-12 non-conference schedule today. Each game will be revealed on the team's Twitter every 10 minutes starting at 1:00 pm ET with an exclusive discussion of the schedule following on the school's Facebook page.

It is official that Princeton's game at Rider this season will be the Tigers' first-ever visit to Alumni Gymnasium.
The Dyckman team with Cornell alum Jeff Foote in the middle (matched up versus Georgetown's Roy Hibbert) and Pawel Buczak coming off the bench won the Nike Pro City crown over defending champs The Franchise, 110-88.
Buczak, called "The European One" and "The Malnourished One" by the public address announcer, scored seven points on 3-4 shooting, including a big three point shot from the right wing in the fourth quarter as The Franchise attempted to rally.

Wednesday News:
Pete Carril visited Georgetown practice this week in advance of the Hoyas' Chinese tour.
John Thompson III announced sophomore center Moses Ayegba suffered a torn ACL during the Kenner League.
Set your DVR for ESPNU next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Bill Carmody, Mitch Henderson, Sydney Johnson and John Thompson III will each be sitting down with Andy Katz. These panels were taped last month at the big AAU event in Orlando.
Former Tiger Konrad Wysocki officially re-signed with Polish squad PGE Turowem Zgorzelec.
Princeton is among the schools "clamoring after" a guard from Wisconsin.
A top shooter from Iowa has committed to Northwestern, the second recruit to say "yes" to the Wildcats since Sunday.

The Princeton Athletic Department has posted interviews with Brendan Connolly (.mp3) and Will Barrett (.mp3). Both juniors update what they've been working on to improve over the summer.
Another member of the class of 2013, Ian Hummer, was involved in a triple overtime game during the Kenner League quarterfinals. Hummer's Hoop Magic team eventually lost 78-71.
ESPN revealed that Fairfield will kick off Old Spice Classic play versus Arizona State on November 24th. There's video of Sydney Johnson talking with Andy Katz about the tournament.
Earlier that same week Georgetown meets Kansas in the first round of the 2011 Maui Invitational. The Hoyas will also host Memphis on December 22nd.

Mitch Henderson and John Thompson III were among the coaches present at the AAU Boys 11th Grade Gold Super Showcase in Florida.
A big man from New York has offers from at least 14 schools, including Princeton.
Northwestern head man Bill Carmody would like to see the July recruiting periods trimmed down.
The Wildcats' Alex Marcotullio completed a successful run with Great Britain at the FIBA Under-20 European Championships and was promptly invited to the National Team's training camp.
