Xavier pulled away from Richmond (16-6) in the second half of a 85-62 decision. The Musketeer zone surprised the Spiders.
Mercer (9-14) led Salem by eight with 12 minutes to go. The Vikings' Gary Carthan popped out a shoulder and the Oaks eventually came away with a 65-62 win.
An inspired Northwestern (13-8) showing came up a point short of number one Ohio State. Playing without their leading scorer, the Wildcats shortened the game to 49 possessions.
Denver (11-10) knocked off the defending Sun Belt champions from North Texas, 80-67. The Pioneer Pulse has more on Denver's first win in the last six tries versus the Mean Green.

A Florida forward says Dartmouth and Princeton are showing interest in him.
Around the Ivy League: Penn (8-8 / 2-0) never led in the second half yet survived a stern test from a Peter Sullivan-less Brown (7-11 / 0-4) squad, 80-78 in overtime. Harvard (14-3 / 4-0) stayed perfect at home, 78-57 over Cornell (4-14 / 0-4). Columbia (12-6 / 3-1) broke open a game tied at 25 and outscored Dartmouth (5-13 / 1-3) by 21 in the last 20 minutes of a 66-45 final.
Postgame audio - Coach John Thompson III, Austin Freeman, Chris Wright & Julian Vaughn:
Trailing 61-53 and time running low, it took 51 seconds for Villanova to cut an eight point Georgetown lead down to one.
Running, jumping, trapping, tripling and tackling - the Wildcats swarmed the entirety of the floor for 94 feet as they attempted to salvage victory in a game they were almost out of with 2:59 left.
A pair of unforgivable long passes by the Hoyas' Jason Clark and Chris Wright into Antonio Pena's hands led swiftly to a Corey Stokes three point jumper from the left arc and two Maalik Wayns free throws as the Hoyas struggled to break the Wildcats' full court pressure.
Through it all, senior Austin Freeman remained unflappable.

princetonbasketball.com was founded on April 28th, 1998 in an attempt to provide fans of the Princeton Tigers and Ivy League basketball with the best on-line source for up-to-date news and information. We have since expanded to launch a companion site, Georgetown Basketball News.
