One more article to mark the 20th anniversary of Princeton/Georgetown in the first round of the 1989 NCAA Tournament: Here's what Princeton Alumni Weekly had to say after the game.

Chris Young was scratched from his latest spring training start as a precaution for tendinitis.

Princeton/Georgetown box score.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Princeton/Georgetown game.

With that fact in mind, I finally went into my old bedroom at my parents' house and opened up one of the many boxes I've collected over the years labeled "Princeton basketball."

Near the top of the first box I took out of the closet was a copy of the March 21, 1989 Princeton Packet. I've scanned the box score off the cover of the sports section. Click to enlarge.

These boxes are a treasure trove of old magazine articles, newspapers, game programs and photographs that I hope to share over the summer.

In the meantime, you can buy a DVD of this classic NCAA tournament contest here.

Feel free to share your memories of that game in the comments.

Live chat on Wednesday night.

Hello, everyone.

Thank you for your interest in princetonbasketball.com this season.

With four members of the extended Princeton family - Richmond, Northwestern, Georgetown and Oregon State - all playing in postseason games on Wednesday, I've decided to do something new on the site:

The first-ever princetonbasketball.com live chat!

You'll be able to ask me questions, talk about the games as they happen and interact with each other starting at 6:30 pm ET through the final buzzer in Corvallis.

The chat will be moderated.

I'll be providing updates on all four games and I might have a prize or two to give away during this marathon.

I hope you'll check it out.

Best,

Jon Solomon

Box Score

Postgame audio - Coach John Thompson III, Greg Monroe & Chris Wright:

A moribund St. John's team, who had gone over 13 minutes without a field goal to start the second half, had missed 14 straight shots and had fallen behind Georgetown by 14 points was somehow able to pull even with the Hoyas at the end of regulation and smash Georgetown's postseason chances in overtime.

It was the first overtime game in the 91 meetings between the two Big East rivals.

Two free throws by St. John's Rob Thomas with two seconds left sent the game to the extra frame.

Thomas' offensive rebound and two-handed dunk with one on the shot clock gave the Red Storm a three point lead with 15 seconds left in OT and DaJuan Summers' deep, open three point shot for Georgetown at the buzzer was long off the iron.

Greg Monroe scored a game-high 18 for the Hoyas, but chose to pass the ball on several occasions close to the rim where he should have been less selfish.

Thomas finished with a career-high 16 points and seven boards off the bench.

St. John's outrebounded Georgetown 46-25.

Starting forward Austin Freeman was unable to play the Hoyas. Freeman tried to go through warmups at Madison Square Garden despite an injured hip but could not get his body to respond.
