Around the Ivy League: Brown (1-0) represented the league well with a 74-55 victory at Eastern Michigan yesterday afternoon. Columbia (0-1) fell by 18 to Fordham at home. Penn (0-1) dropped a 67-59 overtime decision to Drexel at the Palestra. Out west, Dartmouth (0-1) was demolished by Air Force 67-38 and Harvard (0-1) was nearly doubled up by Stanford 111-56.



Thursday News:

In front of a crowd numbering less than 100 people, Richmond (1-0) held on against Maine 44-42 in college basketball's first game of the season.

Georgetown's Roy Hibbert has been named a preseason All-American by the Associated Press.

The college basketball season kicks off this afternoon, with Chris Mooney's Richmond Spiders doing the honors today in Memphis.

Today's Washington Post has a feature on the John Thompson III Foundation.

The Hoyas will start the season ranked #5 in the Associated Press poll.

Will Venable was 2-4 with a run scored in Saturday's Arizona Fall League action.



Friday News:

Roy Hibbert has no regrets about returning to Georgetown for his senior season.

Congratulations to John Rogers, class of 1980, who is a recipient of Princeton's Woodrow Wilson Award.
