Will...?

Two years ago I approached Princeton's season opener with a player-by-player wish list. Last year it was simply 19 questions for 2011-12. In lieu of a standard preview, here are a bunch of connected rhetorical queries that all start with the same word.

Feel free to add/answer your own in the comments.

What struck me while putting this together was that the answers may end up being far different but many of these inquests were quite similar to ones posited a season ago.

Throwback Thursday: 1979-80 color photos.

Losing power for three days (happy to report both light and hot water have returned as of this evening), I only just now realized it was Thursday. What better time to share an amazing batch of 18 color photos from the 1979 and 1980 that David Zeft recently unearthed?

Zeft shot these images - which were previously a stack of slides - from the sidelines and stands at Jadwin Gym while attending games with his family.

I have ID'd players to the best of my ability but any further details in the comments would be greatly appreciated.

That's John Rogers (#32) shooting from the top of the key above with Randy Melville (#21) boxing out and Bob Roma (#40) on the wing. You can click on any image to enlarge.

YouTube potpourri LXXX.

Here's the latest collection of videos from various corners of the Princeton basketball family. Above, Mitch Henderson gets "Mic'd Up" at practice and talks about Princeton's upcoming season - the first clip on the team's official YouTube channel.

Six additional videos follow after the jump.

Throwback Thursday: 1964-65.

It was getting downright embarrassing. For over a year I've had two overstuffed boxes of Bill Bradley-era magazines, cutout newspaper articles and handwritten notes staring at me from across my TV room. A site member personally delivered them all last summer and for whatever reason I couldn't bring myself to start digging into bounty so daunting.

It took Brian Earl posting a Princeton scouting report for the Tigers' Final Four team to goad me into action.

So, for this week's "Throwback Thursday" you'll find 15 different scans from the 1964-65 season taken from disparate sources. There's some pretty cool one-of-a-kind stuff alongside images and drawings you may never have seen before. Click on any image to enlarge, and feel free to share memories in the comments or on our forum.

Throwback Thursday: late 60s & early 70s media guides.

"Throwback Thursday" is back for a third straight week and this time out we've scanned covers and select pages from inside four late 1960s and early 1970s Princeton media guides.

Four decades ago these guides were not the glossy, full color, 200+ behemoths they eventually developed into. Heck, they weren't even called "media guides." The oldest of these documents is little more than a small, possibly photocopied pamphlet.

That said, each has a certain understated, simplistic beauty - though they've got nothing on the mid-1970s Princeton media guides I won on eBay last year which are nearly works of art.

(Don't worry, you'll see'm soon enough.)

Throwback Thursday: 1980s programs.

Last week's first ever "Throwback Thursday" focusing on a collection of Bill Bradley-related artifacts has inspired me to give it another go today. If anything it means that some items I've been long-overdue to file will finally get put away out of sight!

This time out we're looking at assorted early 1980s programs. A cross-section of covers, interesting photos and player profiles can be all found after the jump.

Click on any image to enlarge, and feel free to share memories from any of these games in the comments.

New Recruit - Spencer Weisz.

Last week 6'4"+ 190 lb guard/forward Spencer Weisz from Florham Park, who attends Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, NJ verbally committed to Princeton.

I've subsequently been able to talk on the phone to Pirates head coach Kevin Williams and assistant Gregory Walsh about Weisz, where I learned about how a former Princeton reserve aided the current Tiger staff in Weisz' initial discovery and what Ivy League Player of the Year from another school he may compare to down the line.

Exclusive quotes and analysis from two men who have developed this Tiger recruit the past three seasons plus links to player evaluations, photos and videos of Weisz can be found after the jump.

All pictures enclosed were taken by Richard Morris.

Throwback Thursday: Bill Bradley.

On my various social networks I've been seeing a lot of young people doing "Throwback Thursday," where you post something from your childhood. As an amateur archivist, this idea appeals to me. Who wouldn't want to see an adorable photo of Scott Greenman as a toddler?

I've been seriously behind on scanning old programs, media guides and photographs (I have two boxes of 1960s and 1970s Princeton ephemera donated by a site member I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't touched) but a reader went crate-digging into his personal collection and captured a few items of interest that he said I could share for the first - and perhaps last unless someone wants to remind me weekly - "Throwback Thursday" on the site.

After the jump you'll find Frank Deford's December 1964 profile of Bill Bradley from Sports Illustrated, a January 1965 piece called "Two Once And Future Champs" also by Deford, the March 1965 story "A Whole Team Touched By Stardust," "Building The Bradley Legend" from Young Stars of Sport and two Princeton pages of the program from the 1965 NCAA East Regional.

Hopefully a nice treat for those who have signed up for our 2012-13 coverage early. Click on any image to enlarge.

Proxima parada, Espana!

Princeton departs for Spain tomorrow evening, where they'll be playing four games against top-tier Spanish opponents beginning Friday, while experiencing a fair bit of off-the-court culture during a 10 day oversea trip.

On the eve of their journey - the first such foray out of the country for more than one in their party - head coach Mitch Henderson opened practice to the media and answered 10 minutes of my questions afterwards.

I also had a chance to speak with returning Tigers Brendan Connolly, Clay Wilson and Ian Hummer, who each have varying degrees of experience with international travel not to mention comfort levels with speaking Spanish.

Robert Solomon joined me on this visit at Jadwin. His photos, plus a number of observations and the aforementioned interview audio, can all be found after the jump.

New Recruit - Pete Miller.

John Carroll, the head coach of prep powerhouse and reigning NEPSAC champion Northfield Mount Hermon, has seen a lot of Ivy League recruits suit up for his Hoggers. The school has sent 16 different players to Ivy programs in the last five years alone.

Carroll thinks there’s a chance that Pete Miller could be the best of them all.

Yesterday morning the versatile, skilled 6'10" senior-to-be added his name to this impressive list of Northfield alums when he called Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson and informed him that he wanted to become a Tiger next season.

Last night I spoke with Carroll as well as Miller's AAU coach Michael Crotty, Jr. of Middlesex Magic. Their exclusive quotes and analysis plus links to player evaluations, photos and videos of Miller can all be found after the jump.

Alumni Game group photo.

I was urged to stop by Jadwin Gym this afternoon for the annual Reunions Alumni Game and it was great to catch up with some familiar faces, many of a rather recent vintage. Before I split, I was requested to snap a group photo and I've shared it above.
