Richmond (14-10) rallied against Charlotte to force overtime, holding on 79-76 in the extra frame. The Spiders are now tied for second place in the Atlantic 10.

Northwestern (7-17) could not hold a 12 point second half lead and is still looking for its first conference win after a 53-51 loss at Iowa.

Weekend roundups have been published in the Daily Princetonian and the Yale Daily News.

Princeton recruit Zane Ma scored 17 points as Harvard Westlake beat Westlake High in the first round of the Southern Section Div. I-AA playoffs.

Georgetown travels to Providence for a President's Day matinee. The Hoyas are tied for first place in the Big East with three other teams.

Lots of emails in my inbox and comments on the site this weekend about the number of fouls Princeton has committed this season. Are the Tigers really averaging more whistles per-game than they have in other years?

Princeton recruit John Comfort scored 15 points in a Fenwick victory over Bishop McNamara.

Georgetown (20-4) dug a big hole they could not climb out of, falling 77-70 at Syracuse. After the game Hoya head coach John Thompson III questioned his team's toughness on the road.

Northwestern (7-16) was up by two with less than ten minutes to go, but Purdue pulled away for a 71-56 victory.

Denver (11-14) dropped a 53-48 decision at Louisiana-Monroe.

Richmond (13-10) moved into a tie for third place in the Atlantic 10, winning by three at Duquesne.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (16-5 / 8-0) stayed perfect in league play, defeating Dartmouth (8-14 / 1-7). Penn (9-15 / 4-2) rallied in the second half to surprise Yale (10-12 / 4-4), 78-65. Columbia (12-11 / 5-3) swept its second straight conference weekend with a 73-64 decision over Harvard (6-18 / 1-7).

A crestfallen Marcus Schroeder put his head in his hands, then pulled his black jersey over his face, turning away from the court and leaning against press row.

An open three point shot by the Princeton sophomore guard to win the game at the end of overtime had skipped off the rim as Brown completed a ten point comeback that began with less than eight minutes to play.

The Bears survived 65-63 on Saturday night to stay two games behind Cornell in the race for the Ivy League title with six games left on the schedule.

"This was a very gusty win for our team," stated Brown head coach and former Princeton star Craig Robinson after the game. "Good teams can win on the road when they don't play well and that's what happened tonight."

It was the same painful story for the Tigers, who lost their fifth in a row as they again could not close out an opponent.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (15-5 / 7-0) scored three times in the final 25 seconds for an amazing 72-71 comeback victory against Harvard (6-17 / 1-6). Brown (13-8 / 5-2) ended the 24 game home conference winning streak that Penn (8-15 / 3-3) had built up, defeating the Quakers 66-61. Columbia (11-11 / 4-3) beat Dartmouth (8-13 / 1-6) in Hanover, 59-50.

Princeton continues to look for the elusive 40 minute game.

"We've had some games where we're right in the mix and whether it is execution on the defensive end and the offensive end" said Tiger head coach Sydney Johnson following Princeton's 67-56 loss to Yale. "We just haven't seized the moment."

Trailing by five points with seven minutes to go, Yale went on a 12-0 run and the Bulldogs finished Friday night's game with a 22-6 rally. "I don't think it is lack of desire" Johnson observed, trying to explain how his team had let the lead slip away. "We just have fallen short consistently."

"We have lapses" bemused senior co-captain Kyle Koncz stated after the game. "We're making the same mistakes over and over again. We're losing guys in the zone. We're not talking."

Koncz scored 12 points and added a career-best 11 rebounds for Princeton. Center Zach Finley also had 12 of his own in defeat.

Yale's Nick Holmes paced four Bulldogs in double figures with 18 points. Travis Pinick scored 11 and grabbed 11 boards while Ross Morin and Caleb Holmes each had 10.
