A three point try by senior Jason Clark was off the mark at the horn and Georgetown (24-9) saw their season end with a 66-63 loss to NC State. Hoya Prospectus crunches the numbers.

The campaign continues for Fairfield (21-14), who used a late second half push to defeat Manhattan 69-57 in the CIT. This sets up a "Penn vs. Princeton" meeting between Andy Toole's Robert Morris team and Sydney Johnson's Stags on Wednesday.

A long-awaited NCAA Tournament victory behind them, Georgetown plays NC State today with the winner advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

Know! Your! Foe! - Pitt.

When the second round CBI pairings were confirmed, I sent out several emails that evening to potential Know! Your! Foe! interview subjects and the only person who got back to me was Chas Rich (potentially pictured above) of Pitt Blather.

I'm glad he did. Rich tackled my preview questions admirably in advance of Pittsburgh hosting Princeton on Monday night. Our conversation follows after the jump.

Georgetown (24-8) was solid defensively and executed well offensively in their first round NCAA Tournament game versus Belmont. Late last night in the NIT, Northwestern (19-14) was unable to slow down Washington, the Wildcats' season ending 76-55.

The Trentonian and Cardiac Hill preview Monday's College Basketball Invitational game.

16 years ago this month, Pete Carril announced his retirement following 29 seasons coaching Princeton.

This WZBN piece from after the conclusion of the 1995-96 campaign has it all: An emotional interview full of great Coach Carril quotes prior to his employment by the Sacramento Kings, archival game clips including many current coaches as undergraduates, tennis + cigar footage, John Thompson III with hair and those terrible white/black home uniforms I had tried hard to forget.

There's good news and bad news about Monday's CBI game. The bad news is that it will not be televised and as of yesterday afternoon Pittsburgh had no intention to offer video streaming on-line. The good news is that it is a breezy 336 miles from one campus to the other if you want to see the contest in person!

I did not realize it had been 16 years since the defending national champion lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. I have a vague recollection of that prior outcome...

John Thompson III's Georgetown team looks to avoid a third straight early exit from the NCAA Tournament, meeting Belmont this afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.

A familiar foe awaits Fairfield in the next round of the CIT.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (26-5) saw their season end with a 79-70 loss to Vanderbilt. Even at 20 with 4:28 left in the first half, a needless second foul by Kyle Casey sent him to the bench and the Commodores went to intermission on a 13-3 run. While the Crimson cut an 18 point deficit down to seven late, they were unable to get closer.

It is official: The Tigers will visit Pittsburgh on Monday night in the next round of the CBI. The Panthers made 14 three pointers and defeated Wofford at home 81-63.

Ian Hummer was named second-team NABC All-District 13. The Princeton junior made ESPN's Top Plays, but not for a reason I expect he's happy with.

The Town Topics writes about Senior Night at Jadwin Gym.

Fairfield (20-14) was playing lackadaisically against Yale (19-10) in the first half of their first round CIT matchup. Trailing by 13 at the break, Stags assistant coach Tony Newsom lit into his team in the locker room and the final 20 minutes were a total energy flip. Scoring 23 of the first 26 points out of intermission, Sydney Johnson's squad advanced 68-56.

On the other side of the CBI bracket, Oregon State (20-14) raced past Western Illinois, 80-59. You can see a full update of the tournament pairings here.

The Tigers have seven NCAA/NIT/CBI wins the last 15 years, more than three times as many as any other Ivy school.
