It sounds like there was legitimate concern in State College yesterday that Dan Earl would leave the Nittany Lions if his brother Brian was named the head coach at Princeton.

Martin Bahar and Tony Newsom heading to Fairfield.

Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports reports and princetonbasketball.com can confirm that Princeton assistants Martin Bahar and Tony Newsom have both followed Sydney Johnson to Fairfield.

Bahar had already been working out of Connecticut for roughly the past 10 days.

I have no definitive word on possible destinations for assistant coach Brian Earl or Director of Basketball Operations Kendrick Saunders. Either could join Mitch Henderson's staff or may head to other opportunities.

Former Princeton guard Mitch Henderson '98, who served under Bill Carmody the past 11 seasons as an assistant with Northwestern University, is the new Princeton basketball coach.

Henderson replaces Sydney Johnson after a 16 day search for the Tigers' next head man.

A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon to introduce Henderson.

Thursday News:

The Daily Princetonian talked to several different people, including myself, looking for the reason(s) Coach Johnson left for Fairfield.

This list of potential replacements does not break any new ground.

SportsProf however, makes the argument for Larry Brown.

The Town Topics has run their story on Coach Johnson, talking to Noah Savage about the departure.

It is no surprise that Tommy Amaker was able to leverage his offer from Miami into better resources and increased pay for his assistant coaches at Harvard.

Chris Young has biceps tendinitis and his start on Friday has been pushed back to Sunday.



Wednesday News:

A big day on the recruiting front for two schools: The best remaining prospect in ESPNU's Top 100 committed to Georgetown and two Indiana big men who both originally hail from Europe are heading to Northwestern.

I was unaware that former Princeton and current Georgetown basketball office assistant Mary Jane Cratty was retiring until I read summaries of Coach Thompson's tribute to her at last night's Hoya banquet. They're going to be lost without you at McDonough, but you knew that already.

Chris Young wouldn't be surprised if a specific individual became the next head coach of the Tigers.

Chris Young pitched seven strong innings (video) and left Sunday's game versus the Nationals with a 3-1 lead. The Mets bullpen couldn't hold the advantage and Washington would prevail in 11 innings.
