The Padres have lost four of five, and Chris Young looks to fix that trend tonight in Colorado against the Rockies. First pitch is at 9:05 pm ET.
The Denver Post has an article about Chris Young in today's paper, including quotes from Joe Scott.
"He still has the same calmness about him," Scott said. "He knows who he is and sticks to doing what he does best. I wish I could be there (tonight), but I am out here [in Las Vegas] trying to find Chris Youngs for our program."
Central Connecticut State will start their season at Jadwin Gym on November 11th.
Will Venable was 1-4 with a run scored in San Antonio's 5-4 win over second place Corpus Christi.

Chris Young retired the first 12 Cubs he faced on Thursday night. Young struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work, but San Diego could only manage one run before Young was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the seventh as the Padres tried to push a second runner home. Two late runs by Chicago sent the Padres to defeat by a 3-1 score. Young lowered his home ERA this season to 0.66.

Chris Young and the San Diego Padres kick off interleague play at Seattle tonight. 10:05 pm ET first pitch versus the Mariners.
The San Antonio Missions went 2-2 over their last four games. On Monday Will Venable picked up his first triple of the season, going 1-4 with two runs scored in a 8-0 victory over Corpus Christi. Tuesday saw Venable go 1-4 with a double in a 4-3 loss against the Hooks. The next day Venable was again 1-4 with a double, but this time San Antonio came away with a 4-1 win. Finally, last night Venable's eight game hitting streak came to an end in a 6-5 loss that started a series with Frisco.
The Mad Friars web site had the following to say about Venable earlier this week:
Will Venable went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, extending his hitting streak to six games after scuffling through a 2-for-32 stretch. Just seven of his 41 hits this year have gone for extra bases but he has collected one in successive days for the first time this year. Six of his seven extra base hits have come at home. Venable also has an RBI in four of his last five games. He is hitting .387 at home this year but just .218 on the road.
Joe Scott has landed his first recruit at Denver, 6'7" forward Rob Lewis from Colorado Springs.
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review is reporting that Georgetown head coach John Thompson III will hire Pittsburgh Director of Basketball Operations David Cox and Xavier assistant coach Kenya Hunter as his new assistant coaches.

Chris Young on top of the hill for San Diego tonight at 10:05 pm ET, trying to match Jake Peavy's ace performance from one night previous. The Padres are looking to win their series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Will Venable moves to the six hole for the Missions, going 2-4 with his third stolen base as San Antonio defeats Midland 6-1. Venable was also 1-4 in the Missions' 6-4 loss to Midland on Thursday.
Anyone hear Denver coach Joe Scott in the booth for two innings during the Colorado Rockies game on Thursday?

The Padres lost to the Diamondbacks 7-4 last night in Arizona. Chris Young pitched into the sixth inning before leaving down three runs. Young had two wild pitches and an error during his outing.
Joe Scott has completed his staff at Denver, hiring Colorado native and former Princeton Director of Basketball Operations John Fitzgerard for the same position with the Pioneers.
Frisco over San Antonio 8-5. Will Venable was 2-4 with a run scored. Venable played all three outfield positions in the series versus the RoughRiders.

The Denver Post has a q&a with new head coach Joe Scott.
Princeton athletic director Gary Walters has released the following statement:
"As of now, the Princeton men's basketball coaching search remains ongoing."
Following the lead of the Daily Princetonian, M.A. Mehta from The Star Ledger tracked down Coach Pete Carril earlier today for a quote about Sydney Johnson. Carril had the following to say:
"I always thought from the very beginning when I recruited him out of Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia that he had leadership qualities," Carril told The Star-Ledger this morning. "As a coach, you apply all of those qualities and your experiences.
"He was a very good defensive player, captain of the team. He was very unselfish and just a good all-around player. He'll be fine. He'll do a nice job. If he's the choice and he accepts, it'll be a fine choice."
Update: In a amendment to their first post on the subject The Star Ledger is now quoting a source who calls the Daily Princetonian's initial report about Sydney Johnson "premature."
The Georgetown Hoyas were honored at halftime of the Magic/Wizards game on Tuesday night.

The Princeton Athletic Department provides some further detail on the awards and award winners from last night's basketball banquet.

Chris Young was surprisingly wild against the Dodgers last night and lasted just two innings. Young faced five batters in the third but retired none of them. The Padres lost 9-3.

"I was terrible," Young said, flatly. "I never found my rhythm, never found my groove. Sometimes you can figure it out and find it. I couldn't make the adjustment. I dug us in too deep."
The Trenton Times grasps for new details trying to get information on the Princeton coaching search. While I'm not at liberty to share what I know, lets just say that some of the people they mentioned have already interviewed for the job, but there are a number of people that they haven't unconvered yet who have been seen around Jadwin in the last couple of days. Sorry for the tease.

When Coach Joe Scott and I taped our last one-on-one interview of the season seven days ago, we spent an extra hour after I hit stop on my MiniDisc recorder sitting at the very top of Jadwin Gym talking about the future of Princeton basketball.
The conversation was as candid as it had always been when the tape was no longer rolling.
We discussed recruiting principles and strategies. We discussed ways things needed to be improved. We discussed what Coach Scott felt he could have done differently during the season. The majority of our conversation, however, was about where Princeton basketball was headed with Coach Scott as head coach.
After I got back to my desk I sent Coach Scott an email about an idea I had for a collaborative project that I had forgotten to mention while we were talking. He wrote I should give him a call in April and we could talk in greater detail then.
The man I shook hands with outside of his office was not a man who appeared to be going anywhere but back to work.
Tonight, Coach Scott left Princeton for the University of Denver.
A press conference is scheduled at Denver for 5:00 pm ET on Wednesday.
Coach Scott was quoted on the Trenton Times web site this evening saying "it all started over the weekend."
A source tells me the same detail the Trenton Times is reporting: Coach Scott was not forced out of Princeton. A member of the athletic department I spoke to was caught by surprise by tonight's news, saying simply "I'm completely dumbfounded."
When I was at Jadwin Gym briefly this afternoon, Coach Scott was not around. I didn't think anything of it at the time. Plenty of coaches are on the recruiting trail at this time of year. Two assistants were in the basketball office, and both greeted me warmly.
There was no indication of the news that would drop jaws six hours later.
We will have more on this story as it develops and will be closely following Princeton's third search for a men's basketball coach in seven years.
