Friday News:

Princeton has announced a few tweaks to the 2009-10 schedule. Two date changes and several minor start times. Those adjustments have been made to the site's schedule page.

Rivals is counting down all 347 Division I programs. Princeton places close to the middle at #156.

Tiger assistant Scott Greenman is pictured in Northfield Mount Hermon's photo gallery of college coaches that have recently visited the school.

Wednesday News:

Will Venable hit his 10th home run of the season (video), a solo shot to center in the top of the seventh inning, as San Diego came back to beat San Francisco, 4-3.

Lafayette announced their 2009-10 basketball schedule. In addition to a game at Princeton, the Leopards will visit Georgetown on November 28th.

Richmond has released the dates for their Atlantic 10 slate, completing their schedule for the upcoming season.

A 6'2" guard from western Pennsylvania who "also drew interest from Princeton" committed to Cornell.

Monday News:

Will Venable was at the center of a bench-clearing incident during yesterday's game between the Padres and the St. Louis Cardinals. Venable grounded out to first baseman Albert Pujols and Pujols felt Venable gave him an elbow when Pujols tagged him out in the baseline. After the game, Venable considered the matter over. Pujols, not so much.

Gonzaga's Cedrick Lindsay has accepted an offer to play at Richmond. Lindsay's teammate Malcolm Lemmons is considering an offer from Princeton, among other Ivy schools.

Former Northwestern guard Craig Moore is blogging about his first year playing overseas for the Dutch team De Friesland Aris.



Sunday News:

An article from the Times Dispatch on the anatomy of the basketball schedule at Richmond gives readers a better idea of how hard it is to create and coordinate a full campaign.

Bill Bradley will be speaking at Cornell on September 10th as part of a panel called "Loves on the Run: Sports, Service and Leadership."

Did you miss the Will Venable full extension diving catch that was the Top Play on Friday night's Sportscenter? Watch video of the grab here. Venable also had a pair of doubles, his second career game with more than one extra base hit.

Last night Venable was one for three at the plate as San Diego was shut out by St. Louis, 7-0.

Georgetown will host Temple in an early-season game broadcast by ESPN.

The Richmond non-conference schedule now includes a meeting with Florida.

A 6'3" combo guard from Tennessee says Princeton is one of the schools recruiting him.



Wednesday News:

Will Venable knocked in a run with the first pinch hit of his career, a double in the bottom of the seventh, as San Diego rallied to defeat Houston 4-3.

Richmond will play a challenging non-conference schedule in 2009-10.

Saturday News:

Armond Hill was selected for induction into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame. A ceremony will be held on September 24th at the New York Athletic Club.

Monday News:

Richmond is having trouble scheduling non-conference opponents for the 2009-10 season.

Thursday News:

Oregon State (16-17) advanced to the College Basketball Invitational's best-of-three finals with a 65-62 win over Stanford. The Cardinal sent the game to overtime on a second chance turnaround jumper at the buzzer, and were up five with 2:31 left in the extra frame, but Beavers center Roeland Schaftenaar sparked a 7-0 run, hitting a three, scoring inside and then assisting on a backdoor that put OSU up to stay. The Beavers will host the first game of the CBI championship on Monday night.

In the other CBI semi, Richmond (20-16) saw its season end with a 81-69 loss to UTEP. Down all night, the Spiders cut their deficit to two with eight minutes left, but could not get any closer. Richmond head coach Chris Mooney missed the final 4:44 of action, ejected following his second technical foul.
