Monday traditionally belongs to the student papers this time of year. The Daily Princetonian, the Brown Daily Herald and the Yale Daily News offer differing viewpoints on last weekend's games.

John Shurna had a great second half and it was Northwestern (14-8) with the last laugh in a 74-70 win at Illinois.

Behind 23 points from Rakim Sanders, an earlier road loss to Siena was avenged at home by Fairfield, 64-56. The Stags have won three straight.

Chris Udofia scored a career high 27 as Denver (17-7) knocked off Middle Tennessee, 75-60.

Oregon State (15-8) won 76-58 at Utah.

Duquesne downed Richmond (12-12) by nine.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (20-2 / 6-0) held on for a 57-52 win over Columbia (13-9 / 2-4). Penn (12-10 / 4-1) rolled by Brown (7-16 / 1-5) in a 65-48 final. Cornell (8-12 / 3-3) picked up their first road triumph of the season, leading wire to wire versus Dartmouth (4-18 / 0-6).

Fairfield (10-10) could not completely climb out of a 19 point hole versus Iona, falling 71-62. Head coach Sydney Johnson doesn't see much separation between the two teams, except one makes plays down the stretch.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (17-2 / 3-0) sent a statement with a 65-35 win over Yale (12-5 / 2-1). It was the largest margin of victory in the 183 game history of this series. Brown (7-13 / 1-2) caught Dartmouth (4-15 / 0-3) in the final four minutes of a 66-59 triumph for the Bears.



Wednesday News:

Fordham vs. Richmond - 7:00 pm ET

Mercer (4-15) fell to Manor at home, 59-57. Flip Seculic had 16 for the Vikings.

Bill Carmody is no fan of the RPI, especially how it treated a couple of his Princeton teams.

Georgetown's John Thompson III flew to Georgia to watch a high school game the same day his Hoyas beat Rutgers.

Sticking with news of former Tiger head coaches, Pete Carril went to a game at St. Joseph's Prep over the weekend.

Let's move on to results from The Old World. In the first week of the Euroleague's Top 16, Mason Rocca scored eight points for EA7 Emporio Armani in a loss to the Greek squad Panathinaikos.

The second round of Eurobasket saw Aris drop an 81-74 decision to BC Donetsk. Dan Mavraides added seven points off the bench for the Yellows.

Landstede Basketbal lost a high-scoring game despite 17 from Kareem Maddox.

Richmond hosts Fordham tonight.

Monday News:

Brown vs. Bryant - 7:00 pm ET

Princeton recruit Mike Washington, Jr. had 15 points in Oak Harbor's win over Lynnwood. Washington is the lone member of Princeton's 2012 recruiting class to be nominated for the 2012 McDonald's All American Games.

It took almost eight minutes for Northwestern (12-7) to score and the Wildcats never cut a Minnesota lead into single digits the rest of the way, falling 75-52.



Sunday News:

Freshman Otto Porter scored the game's final six points as Georgetown (16-3) survived 52-50 against Rutgers. Here's John Thompson III afterwards.

The Hoyas won despite just 12 field goals, tied for fewest in a game by a JTIII-coached Georgetown team.

UMass was too much for Richmond (11-9). The Spiders fell at home, 79-68.

A putback by Alzee Williams at the buzzer in overtime gave North Texas a one point win over Denver (15-5).

Oregon State (13-7) trounced USC, 78-59.

Today's Fairfield game at Marist has been postponed after two students died in an off-campus fire. It is unclear when this game will be rescheduled.

Minnesota hosts Northwestern.

Around the Ivy League: Greg Mangano scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Yale (12-4 / 2-0) completed a season sweep of Brown (5-13 / 0-2) in Providence, 73-60. Harvard (16-2 / 2-0) also stayed perfect in conference by besting Dartmouth (4-14 / 0-2) on the road in front of a sold out crowd, 54-38. Columbia (12-7 / 1-2) got 18 points and a gym record 20 rebounds from Mark Cisco in their first Ivy victory of the campaign, winning 61-56 over Cornell (6-11 / 1-2). Penn (10-9 / 2-0) nearly let a 24 point second half lead get away from them, but at the horn the Quakers held a quality 84-80 win over St. Joe's.



Thursday News:

Unfortunately the Tigers have to settle for runner-up status in another key recruiting battle. A point guard from DC who was deciding between Princeton and George Washington has pledged to the Colonials.

GW was cruel to Richmond (11-8) as well, besting the shorthanded Spiders by 18.

Trailing by two at halftime, Northwestern (12-6) was blown away by Wisconsin after intermission. The Badgers made six of seven three point attempts once play resumed on their way to a 77-57 final.

It is time for Geoff Petrie to regain his touch as GM of the Sacramento Kings.

Fairfield plays at St. Peter's tonight.

Louisiana-Monroe hosts Denver.

At Gill Colliseum, Oregon State welcomes UCLA.
