Two recruiting updates off of Twitter: 7'1" Lawrenceville School center Mat Piotrowski has decided on a school and a local guard who Princeton had been interested in will head to the Patriot League to play soccer.

CBS and Turner have won the bidding war for the NCAA Tournament, which will expand to 68 teams next season. No word on if the presumed four play-in games will include the eight lowest seeds or eight teams on the bubble.



Thursday News:

Dartmouth has hired Paul Cormier as their new men's basketball coach. Cormier was previously coach of the Big Green from 1984-1991. He will officially be introduced on Monday.

A benefit for Derek's Dreams is being held on Wednesday night at Nanina’s in Belleville. There will be silent auction items provided by John Thompson III, Armond Hill, Pete Carril, Bill Bradley, Joe Scott and more.

Friday News:

The Capital Classic was held last night at American University. Princeton recruit Ben Hazel scored 13 points in 14 minutes as the District All-Stars beat the Suburban All-Stars, 109-100.

In the evening's other game, Georgetown recruit Markel Starks was the MVP for the Capital All-Stars, who defeated the U.S. All-Stars, 117-108. Starks had 18 points in 18 minutes of play.

Will Venable (video) hit his third home run of the season in San Diego's 6-2 loss to Atlanta.

Word is that there are five finalists for the open Dartmouth coaching job.

As you may have heard by now, Hartford head coach Dan Leibovitz stepped down to join Jerome Allen's staff at Penn. After just one week on the job as an assistant with Steve Donahue at Boston College, former Penn assistant John Gallagher was quickly hired as the new Hartford coach. Got that?



Monday News:

The return of Chris Young to the mound for the first time in 10 months was a rousing success. Young pitched six innings of shutout, one hit baseball as San Diego defeated Arizona 6-3. You can watch highlights of Young's night here.

Teammate Will Venable provided Young with support, hitting a solo home run to right field in the fourth inning.

Tiger recruit Ben Hazel, who I can confirm did receive official admission to Princeton, was named Honorable Mention 2010 All-Met Boys Basketball.

Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports just reported that according to multiple sources Steve Donahue will be the next head coach at Boston College.
