Thursday News:

By now you've likely heard that the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to bring in Eddie Jordan as an assistant at Kobe Bryant's behest and start running some variation of the "Princeton Offense." If you want to watch the equally unbearable Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith argue this decision for seven minutes, there's video here.

ESPN Boston has more on Pete Miller's commitment to the Tigers.

A point guard from Minnesota reportedly picked up a recent offer from Princeton.

Oregon State's Craig Robinson talked with Jon Rothstein about moving on without Jared Cunningham.

Will Venable cleared the bases (video) with a triple in Cincinnati two days ago.

Wednesday News:

Georgetown has announced their 2012-13 non-conference home schedule.

Two batters in to his most recent start, Chris Young had already allowed a single and a home run. Young would then find his rhythm and retire 18 of the next 20 he faced without giving up another hit, striking out seven and lowering his ERA to 3.91. The end result was a no decision as Young departed after seven innings and the Mets fell to Washington in extra frames.

Craig Robinson was at the Oregon Air National Guard base to greet his brother-in-law yesterday.

The signing of Mason Rocca by Virtus Bologna is discussed.

Did you know Princeton is one of six schools to make the NCAA's Public Recognition List since the Academic Progress Rate began in 2006? Well, now you do.

Here's a helpful directory of who is playing on each Kenner League team. This document will be updated as the summer goes on.

Monday News:

Judson Wallace knocked down a championship-sealing pair of free throws with a just over a second remaining as FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 73-69 in the deciding game of the ACB championship series.

Chris Young (1-1) likely deserved a better fate on Father's Day, taking a loss despite throwing seven innings versus the Reds during which he only allowed two earned runs. Young also drove in his team's first tally with a bases loaded walk (video). The Mets fell to Cincinnati 3-1.

Siena won the Lega A championship series in five games, perhaps ending the career of Mason Rocca with EA7 Emporio Armani Milano

He says he won't make a decision until March of next year, but a big man from the Los Angeles area mentions Princeton as one of five like-minded schools showing interest in him.

The Tigers are one of over 40 schools inquiring about a small forward from Georgia.

Another Georgian has a comparatively shorter (but still lengthy) school list that includes Princeton.

Georgetown will open its season on November 9th against Florida on an aircraft carrier near Jacksonville.

A formidable 2012-13 schedule for Richmond is nearly complete.

Northwestern's Bill Carmody is one of the coaches quoted in a piece about a recent rule change that allows unlimited texting between recruits and those seeking their services.

A 7'1" Sudanese center will (pending NCAA approval) apparently suit up for Carmody's squad this season, adding much-needed interior size.

Craig Robinson's sister was the graduation speaker at Oregon State yesterday.

Kevin "Moon" Mullin was a special guest at last week's Courier-Post/Kiwanis Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet.

Will Venable is improving in matchups versus lefties.

Did you hear the Patriot League is adding Boston University as its ninth member?

Thursday News:

Less than two years after he was hired, Princeton Director of Basketball Operations Kendrick Saunders is leaving the program to accept an assistant coach position at Navy. I'm sorry to see him go but I wish him the best of luck with this hands-on opportunity. The job description for the now-open DOBO position can be found here.

The Princeton Varsity Club will honor Stu Orefice with the Marvin Bressler Award at their annual banquet.

Batting well over .400 for his career versus St. Louis coming into last night, Will Venable was a triple short of San Diego's first cycle against the Cardinals.

Craig Robinson is taking Oregon State to Spain and France this August.

There was a report yesterday that Brown was hiring Penn assistant and former Bears standout Mike Martin as their next head coach but a different report paints the situation as more up in the air.

"The 21 Best Quotes Of The Pete Carril Era."

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about a large box of media guides that a site member generously donated.

While adding the 1994-95 prospectus to my collection, I noticed that three of its pages were dedicated to favorite (clean) quips from coach Pete Carril, who was still two seasons away from his retirement.

I've transcribed this list of wise, funny, profound and eminently quotable lines after the jump. Feel free to add your best Carril declarations (of any rating) in the comments.

Ian Hummer was named second-team NABC All-District 13. The Princeton junior made ESPN's Top Plays, but not for a reason I expect he's happy with.

The Town Topics writes about Senior Night at Jadwin Gym.

Fairfield (20-14) was playing lackadaisically against Yale (19-10) in the first half of their first round CIT matchup. Trailing by 13 at the break, Stags assistant coach Tony Newsom lit into his team in the locker room and the final 20 minutes were a total energy flip. Scoring 23 of the first 26 points out of intermission, Sydney Johnson's squad advanced 68-56.

On the other side of the CBI bracket, Oregon State (20-14) raced past Western Illinois, 80-59. You can see a full update of the tournament pairings here.

Former NU guard and briefly tenured Princeton assistant Craig Moore made 10 three pointers in a game for his Romanian team.

The name Craig Robinson has been mentioned in connection with the open Illinois coaching job.

Basketball was the reason Pete Hegseth chose Princeton over West Point.

Friday News:

Friday, March 9th
Oregon State (9) vs. Arizona (4) - 9:10 pm ET - Pac-12 Tournament - FSN

Up four with the ball twice in the final three minutes, Northwestern (18-13) went scoreless the rest of regulation and in an agonizing overtime were doubled up by Minnesota at the Big 10 Tournament. The 75-68 defeat likely ruins the Wildcats' hopes for an NCAA Tournament at-large entry.

Georgetown (23-8) dropped a double OT thriller to Cincinnati, 72-70. Five missed free throws were costly to the Hoyas. Our friends at Hoya Prospectus crunch the numbers.

If you had Oregon State (19-13) as the last member of the Carril Cradle still playing come Friday, please raise your hand. The Beavers built a 13 point halftime lead and then had to come from eight back to stun top seed Washington by a pair at the Pac-12 Tournament. Robinson said this result might be the biggest win he's had, including his playing days.

The career of Doug Davis and Princeton's season are both on hold, but the Tigers certainly finished strong.

It appears Judson Wallace is suffering from gastroenteritis.

Wallace's college teammate Will Venable doubled off of the Rangers' Yu Darvish in his first major league outing. After the game Venable - who is striving for more consistency from his swing this year - and Darvish had decidedly different views of this hit.

The senior season of Princeton recruit Edo Lawrence concluded with Canterbury's loss in the New England Tournament's quarterfinal round.

Future Tiger Mike Washington, Jr. ended the year as WESCO 3A's second leading scorer.

Big Apple Buckets has updated their NIT projections. This coverage even made the Wall Street Journal. Nicely done, mister.

After initially being placed on paid administrative leave, former Princeton and Georgetown assistant Robert Burke officially resigned as head coach of Mount St. Mary's.
