Wednesday News:

The Town Topics spoke to Princeton assistant Scott Greenman in advance of Greenman's trip to Israel as head coach of the USA Youth Basketball Team at the 18th Maccabiah Games. Results from the games are hard to find on the event's web site, but my research shows that Greenman's team is 3-0 with wins over Germany, Canada and Israel. The United States faces Australia on Wednesday.

A large group of friends and family are on hand in San Francisco to watch Will Venable play against the Giants this weekend. Last night they saw Venable go 1-4 at the plate as the Padres were shut down for the third straight game.

A wild Chris Young walked four straight batters during the shortest start of his career and was lifted in the bottom of the third inning as San Diego lost 6-0 to the Angels. Will Venable got the start in left field and went 1-3 with a double, raising his average to .158.

Mark your calendars! Princeton's game at George Washington will take place on November 24th, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Oregon State comes to DC a few days later on the 28th.

The USC job is open after Tim Floyd's sudden resignation and Craig Robinson is called a "good fit" for the position by Oregonian columnist John Canzano.

Princeton will play at George Washington as part of their 2009-10 non-conference schedule. It will be the Tigers' first game against the Colonials since a 70-67 loss in the 2001 BB&T Classic. A date for this game is not yet known.

Did you know May 1st was officially declared Craig Robinson Day in Chicago? The Oregon State head coach was in the Land of Lincoln to be inducted into the the Mount Carmel Alumni Hall of Fame.

CBS 2 caught up with Robinson while he was in town.

Princeton recruit Ian Hummer will suit up for the East All-Stars on May 9th for the Feinberg Academic All-American Basketball Classic in Ontario, CA.
