Will Venable is taking his demotion to AAA Portland in stride.

Chris Young did not make it out of the first inning of yesterday's start, giving up six runs on seven hits.

Richmond hosts UTEP in the first CBI semifinal of the night.

In the evening's other CBI semi, Stanford and Oregon State face off for the fourth time this year.



Tuesday News:

Oregon State (15-17) advanced to the semifinals of the CBI with a one point overtime victory over Vermont. Calvin Haynes' off-balance bank shot with six seconds to go was the game winner. Stanford will be Oregon State's opponent on Wednesday night in Corvallis, the fourth meeting between the two schools this season.

After the win, Beavers coach Craig Robinson answered questions about his possible interest in two open head coaching jobs and a variety of other subjects.

Kevin Anderson's up and under jumper in the paint with nine seconds left secured a two point Richmond (20-15) win over College of Charleston. Anderson finished with 21, his sixth straight 20 point game. The Spiders will host UTEP in the CBI semifinals on Wednesday.

Princeton recruit Jimmy Sherburne was named Third Team 2009 AP Wisconsin State Boys All-State.

Chris Young gave up three runs in 4 1/3 innings yesterday for San Diego against the Royals.

Will Venable was one of seven players sent to the Padres' minor league camp. It is expected that Venable will start the season in AAA Portland.

Richmond goes for their 20th win tonight versus College of Charleston in the second round of the CBI.

On the heels of the school's first postseason win since 1986-87, this evening Oregon State hosts Vermont in CBI play.

Judson Wallace went for 14 points and 17 rebounds as Benetton Treviso defeated NGC Cantu, 73-62.

Thursday News:

Craig Robinson responds to his brother-in-law's NCAA Tournament picks.

American vs. Villanova - 7:20 pm ET - NCAA - CBS

Oregon State (14-17) will play on in the CBI. The Beavers rallied to defeat Houston 49-44.

Richmond (19-15) came from 14 down to defeat St. John's 75-69 in another CBI matchup.

Northwestern (17-14) fell at Tulsa. Senior guard Craig Moore had an open three point shot with 26 seconds left that just missed the mark.

Georgetown (16-15) saw its year end with a 74-72 loss at Baylor that was a microcosm of their season - strong start, confusion after the midway point and then a missed chance to win at the very end.
